Does anyone know of a software program for MP3 files that can take various bitrates and volume levels and recompile them all into one quality consistant format? Thanks in Advance for any info in this area.

mp3gain can normalise your sound for a group of files. But re-encoding is another story. Best keep them as they are, simply adjust them to have the same volume is good enough.
Try and preserve your higher bitrate files when you can.
do a google search for mp3gain , it is freeware.

i dunno... im thinking that maybe you have an mp3 player that doesnt accept vbr mp3s? if so, you can do EVERYTHING you want with a program called cool edit. you can get a 30 day trial off the net, or you can get the whole thing off of some p2p app. great program. atleast in my opinion.
*btw* this is my 100th post =)
