hey

ive never built a computer before, but i think i know what im doing now and i think im ready to do it and if i ever run into trouble my brother knows a lot more about computers than me so he can help

but i was just wondering, about how much would it be for the high end components and then about how much do you think it would be for the average components

thank you

by the way i am going to be playing games on this and nothing else

and one more quick question... my cd burner is crapping out on me lately so im looking for a new one... what is a good choice?

whelp, first you have to lay out a budget. are you willing to spend a little bit? a lot? just what it takes? or cheap as hell?
then you have to decide what kind of system you want. AMD? Intel? other?
then from there, you have to research what it takes to get what you want. maybe browse some of the online stores and see what's out there. i suggest www.newegg.com , or www.zipzoomfly.com .

for the components, i'm sure you'll get a good idea of what prices are like by browsing around.
for gaming, i'd suggest a good video card, a quality processor, atleast a GB of RAM (and i hear 2 sticks of 512 is better than 1Gb stick) as well as a large amount of space to put them on, and i know i'd like to have a decent LCD flatscreen.

I just finished building mine a little bit ago. i'd say total amount spent = $1400
but a lot of what put me at that level is my 19 inch flatscreen, my video card, and i had to replace my power supply that came with my case.

let me know how it goes
