Hey guys,

Just wondering if someone can tell me which is the best processer, AMD Sempron 3000 or Intel Celeron D?

I'm getting a new computer but am quite low on funds so can't go for the newest and best the two computers I've been looking at have these. Which should I pick?

Also, one has 32mb graphics and the other has 64mb graphics. I know the difference sounds obvious but is there really that much of an obvious difference?

Thanx in advance, really grateful for any input.

Are the prices of the systems dramatically different?

I'd go for the Sempron.

Ive always been impressed with the amd's. But it tends to be a personal choice some people like one some like the other

if i had to chose id go with the amd ive always liked them over those crappy celerons and yes there is a big difference between 32 and 64 mb graphice especially when your trying to play a newer game nothing can piss you off more than buying a new game only to find your graphic card doesnt support it

If you don't play 3d games, a powerful graphics card is not necessary.

I had read that Semprons were better but I just wanted some personal input and have found this is the always the best place to ask.

The first one is a 'Time' one and has the Intel Celeron D320, the 32mb graphics and is £395.
The other is a 'Compaq' and has the AMD Sempron 3000+, the 64mb graphics and is £399.

Guess I'll be going for the 'Compaq'. Although I don't play games much I'd prefer to have the option.

Thanx guys.

well I dunno , does new celeron d chips are pretty nice for a celeron , I built to pc's latly both with Asus MOBO's one with a celeron d 2.8 and the other a sempron 3000 -- the Celeron D blow the other chip away as far as gaming went both had a Geforce Fx 5200 ultra and 1GB ram - the game Postal 2 loaded 2X as fast I timed it .

AMD.... Even though I am not really on the AMD bandwaggon so to speak and would rather have a pentium processor only because its better preformance in the video editing / encoding field... I would go with a sampron if I had the choice...

I wonder what computers will be like with SSE99 :P

i just built mine a few weeks ago. i went intel, i don't know though i'm no expert. something about "cheaper" and "just as good" didn't cut it for me... along with my dad's shitty ass AMD computer that keeps going to shit, i think i made the right choice. but my dad is a complete tard, so his computer can probably factor out, he made a P.O.S.

Ok, there's another I've seen and it has a AMD Sempron 3000 processor and a GeForce FX5500 AGP Card. I'm not really familiar on graphics cards and things (as you can tell) but would this be better for me?

The main thing I'll be using the computer for is basic internet things, CD and DVD making but I'd like to have option to play games too.

There is also one that's £60 and has an AMD Athlon 64 3000. Would this be worth it?
