i just download azareus the bit torrent client because all my friends are telling me it's the best way to download games and movies these days. i used to use dc++ which i liked but i'm not currently sharing a shitload of files like i was before so i'm not going to be able to get into the good hubs. so anyways i've been trying to figure out azareus for the last day and a half and i just actually got to the point where i connected to a torrent and started downloading but the ETA on my torrent is something crazy like 16 days!
all i want to do is be able to download some high quality movies that are in the theatres right now and then burn them to disc. i'm not looking for any of that shaky cam shit.
what is the best way to do that right now? bit torrent? or something else? i know there's irc fserv channels but i have no idea how to go about downloading movies from them and i also know there's newsgroups but once again i'm not familiar with newsgroups so i have no idea how to obtain movies from them either.
so can somebody please for the love of god help me get some movies by either referring me to a good place to find torrents that move at a good clip or by explaining to me how to obtain movies from irc or newsgroups.
right now i'm going to isohunt searching for what i want and downloading it but it seems to be taking forever whereis when i was using dc++ sometimes i would finish whole 700 mb movies in 30 min - 2 hours usually though like 6 hours.
somebody please help me!

You have to go into their IRC room to get the files, but all releases are of top quality. If they don't have it, then no one does. All their films are in Xvid.
If by burn to CD you mean you want VCDs, then go to www.vcdquality.com and check the release ratings for the film you want. Note down the name of the release group who has the file at a quality you think will be good enough. Then go to www.isohunt.com or www.torrentspy.com and search for the film. Look out for the name of the release group you noted down.
As for speed, check the guide in my sig.

OK.
1. First of all your problem may be because you did not have the . torrent file association for azureus. If that is not the problem sometimes the bittorrent index files do not have the .torrent file association added on. You can either add it on yourself or just choose from the list of programs or browse for the proper executible when selecting the file (assuming you are using a OS based on the NT kernel). I use azureus myself and in my opinion it is better than anything else I have seen but is slightly geared for more experienced users.
2. Your problem with the crazy download times are most likely due to the number of seeds available. If there are only a few seeds and the file is big (like your DVD-rips) it will take a very long time or not end up completing at all. To avoid this problem you have to make use of various torrent hubs to find the most active torrent that suits your needs. Personally, (aside from the late Suprnova may she rest in peace) I have had the best results with [piratebay.org]. It is in Swedish but it is easy to figure out (it also has a lot of english as well). I like it because lawsuits can't do anything to them because they are well..... in Sweden. Just remember the more seeds the faster the download.
3. Your last problem is finding decent movie files. Here you have to be careful. If the movie is really new, yeah it is going to be a terrible download. However, many movie torrents tell you straight up that it is a DVD-rip. In the end you have to use your brain to determine wether it is worth your time.

That BitTorrent's whack... some d/loads are lighting fast but others can take days! I don't like that "popularity" system but atleast it's lighter then eMule!

All the best sites to get torrents are register sites. You'll have to share first before downloading the latest stuff. To use bittorent to your benefit and be the safest, you'll have to share and invest a little time and bandwidth and use the register sites, not public listings. As far as speed goes, bittorent is fast. I use azureus and i can get a full quality dvd in about 3.5-4 hours. Do a search in zeropaid of torrent sites and you'll come across all of the best ones. Good luck.

try newsgroup, you will never go back to bit torrent or anything else. a 700mb movie in under 30 min at 3.1mbits/sec. 1GB movie in under an hour. a complete album in under 5min. and of course games.
con: you have to pay for a fast news hosting service, but if your broadband isp have a free fast enough newsgroup, try that first. what i use after: www.newshosting.com.
buy UNLIMITED plan for $14.95 and just cancel via user contral panel when u feel like it.
tools needed:
1) d/l "newsbin pro" www.newsbin.com. newsgroup file downloader. find crack version or try trial ^_^
2) d/l "quickpar" www.quickpar.org.uk. its like "svf" files to see if all the files you have d/l are complete and MOST IMPORTANTLY to ACTUALLY fix and restore broken/incomplete/missing files. this is done by using files known as ".par" that is opened and used in the "quickpar" program.
2) newshosting.com for a very fast and reliable payed newshosting service.
3) to search for files to d/l go to www.nzbzone.com (its free and very very nice)<---- this is similar to searching for torrent files to download (ie. torrentspy.com, bitoogle.com...)
4) MOST importantly read this newsgroup newbie guide first: http://www.slyck.com/ng.php
