View Full Version : Clean eXeem 0.21
nsane
February 8th, 2005, 03:55 PM
Clean eXeem is a 100% malware free version of eXeem.
If you still see ads reboot your computer!
Changes in 0.21 Build 2:
Clean: Added another HOSTS file entry.
Clean: Added a Tools folder to the start menu group for eDexter & the HOSTS Tool.
Clean: Added a better nodes list, the other one was quite out dated.
Clean: Added eDexter to get rid of those ugly 'Action Cancelled' messages in the ad-boxes.
Clean: Redirected startpage to Google.com (http://google.com) via HOSTS file. Prevents further tracking from Swarm Networks.
Clean: Setup now creates an empty adcache file which prevents eXeem from creating the folder.
Changes in 0.21:
Official: Fixed search crash
Official: Fixed node request error
Official: Added stop button in new files
Official: Other minor bugs fixes
Clean: Added 2 more HOSTS enties. Thanks to Lite.
Clean: Setup now places itself in your Kazaa, eMule, and eXeem shared folders.
Clean: Added a nodes list to the installer. So you should have no problem connecting now.

BTW guys, this is the official release of eXeem - they dropped Cydoor, which was a smart decision.
Edit: no way, it STILL has Cydoor??!

nsane the "eXeem Internet Explorer Toolbar" is only optional spyware, you can uncheck it and it does not install. eXeem is still online ad-supported which the ads can be blocked by your hosts file if you don't want to see them but they do not have any kind of threat.
eXeem is completely clean and has NO Cydoor, only optional adware/spyware
"eXeem Internet Explorer Toolbar" which you can opt out during installing it. All other version of eXeem Lite and clean eXeem have already stopped their development. There really is no need for your Clean eXeem right now but whose to say that eXeem may add the spyware back in the future.
Thanks. :;)

it's always been like that, lol. there's a few other reason's to use the clean version, like swarm tracking you via stats.exeem.com ;)
btw, Build 2 released. See first post for details and downloads :)

Its still a lost cause. Your better off sticking to other programs IMO.

well since people can opt out of any spyware it seems pointless. Soon there will be other projects out (hopefully) that will cause people to leave this program all together. Like littlebits said, everyone else has seen the light and stopped developing a lite version and are working on the next big thing. I don't see exeem growing much larger than the 20,000 users it now has. I see 20,000 law suits filed by the MPAA in the near future

I don't see why everyone hates this program, it isn't that bad. It is mainly like torrentopia, but much more easier to use and a better network.

and like i said before, there's more reasons than the spyware to use a clean version. like swarm tracking your actions via stats.exeem.com :P

I don't think anyone really hates it but you should be aware how risky it is to use this network.

well if your smart enough to run an IP blocker, like protowall, with an up to date blocklist. you have like 99.6% protection rate :)
what clients might you suggest i use? i hope your not ganna say emule or bittorrent, because there being monitored even more that kazaa right now ;)
Mels_Smileys45
February 9th, 2005, 01:23 AM
99.6% my ass. Dont even tell people that lie. Its not been proved at all, lots of people running that have recieved "the letter".
Im not suggesting you use any client. Im saying people should stay away from exeem and making a lite version is a waste of your time. Staying away from Emule and BT is a good idea too. All these programs are in the line of fire right now. If I was going to suggest anything safe it would be newsgroups.

i remember reading it somewhere on bluetack, can't seem to find it now, maybe they were wrong :\
you have a valid point tho, any network that connects you directly to another source is always ganna be hazardous. but, hopefully, the struggle of p2p clients, like exeem, improve the technology to a point where they can no longer track you. ants & mute are good examples, tho, they're just clients that require the use of proxies...
maybe someone could invent a system that sends data through it's nodes, but not in the huge chunks were used to seeing in kazaa etc. but little 8bit packets, randomly transmitted through multiple nodes to a point the RIAA couldn't tell which one person was attempting to download that file. kad or overnet would be a good network to implement it on, since your connected to multiple nodes simultaneously. unlike kazaa & ed2k, where your stuck on 1 node/server per connection...
actually, the gift fasttrack plugin can connect to up to 10 nodes simultaneously. but still, you get my point...

I myself have got where I don't really download much at all. I transfer files between people I know on open nap and thats about it. Ive been on one server with about 100 people for some time now. We never let new people in so its fairly safe but nothing is 100%. These days Im just paranoid. I used BT all the time back in the day but its monitored way to much for me to even think about trying it anymore, except for porn. lol

Hey if your gonna act like a child expect to get a spanking like one. Who the hell was talking to you anyway. Nobody! Because no one likes you here.
nsanes cool in my book. Your just a exeem retard. I'm trying to give a healthy warning to the wise (not you). These type of things need to be out in the open so people can decide for themselves if its worth the risk or not.

lol exeem retard hehe ^__^
i used emxeem for the first time last night and well....its turd nothing to do with it been unsafe which it is but its just the fact its just full of leechers already 200,000 users sharing 400 some files...most of the retards dont know how to publish a file i really cant see this thing going far il stick to private bt sites thanks.
oo and i like nsane your site is awsome and i use it alot and if you wanna make a exeem lite then thats your choice but i goto agree with mel i wont be using it anymore.

actually, the gift fasttrack plugin can connect to up to 10 nodes simultaneously. but still, you get my point... Ants and Mute also use virtual IPs and some decent encryption to help protect your data. Ants uses multisource and the Mute developers are on track to multisource and maybe end to end encryption.Ants has multipath routing for packets Im sure MUTE does also .You should look at the source its already been done .
If ants and mute had 22,000 users and scaled well they would be the working well also ,The problem with Ants small network is actually the lack of multiple sources.
Ants uses a torrent type protocol already and has swarming capability .Mute is srtill one to one downloads (the packets are still routed through various nodes).
These networks just need more users to work but with the p2p community burnt by Earthstation 5 its going to be a hard road for the 'annonymous' p2p apps even if they are open source because most people dont understand what open source even means .

nsane I also love your website and I'm a member of your forum, If you still want to make a Clean eXeem that is up to you. Like I said before all other versions of eXeem Lite have stopped their development, now since eXeem knows this they may try to add spyware on their final version. If they do then everyone will be able to use your Clean eXeem instead.
Thanks. :bling

As you can see its still cydoor. They got smart and made it part of the program via html so that anti spyware programs like microsoft antispyware and spybot cant detect it.
So exeem is offically dead to me. Never going to install it. Not even the clean version.
And really hope nsane u stop this project and just move on. Hopefully exeem will get shutdown for good and the authoers will be sued and arristed.
Supprised people are putting up with this crap. Lets get them shut down:

Well boo hoo, I'm sure your 2 shared files will be missed. Now go away, to gether with the other dedicated naysayers who seem to have nothing better to do that reply to every second post in a thread saying the same thing. Oh, Hi Mel! :)
I followed your example! I went and registered on the Honda forums and told everyone I don't like their cars. And guess what, they all thanked me for the useful contribution and made me a Mod! Amazing huh? Thanks so much for teaching me how to raise my profile.

There is a difference than having Cydoor Adware and being online ad-supported with advertisements by Cydoor. If a program has Cydoor Adware, then all of the advertisements are saved to your computer in System 32 in either AdCache or Roodyc folder and your computer has a dirrect connection to the Cydoor servers. In return Cydoor Adware acts as Spyware.
If a program is online ad-supported by Cydoor, then the advertisements do NOT get saved to your computer. You can clear all traces of Cydoor by Deleting your Temporary Internet Files. Also your computer does NOT have connection to the Cydoor servers. Cydoor can NOT act as spyware.
eXeem is ad-supported online by different advertisements, some maybe by Cydoor and others may NOT be by Cydoor. eXeem is NOT contracted with Cydoor. But if the other advertising company that is contracted with eXeem chooses to display advertisements by Cydoor that is NOT eXeem's fault. You can get online advertisements by Cydoor on web pages as well. Many websites also have contracts with different advertisers because it is possible that Yahoo, MSN, Lycos and many others also have online advertisements by Cydoor.
eXeem does NOT have Cydoor Adware, it is only ad-supported online. eXeem is now a clean client.
Thanks. :blah

eXeem is still being served ads by cydoor jnova.cjt1.net and jcontent.bns1.net resolve back to Cydoor why don't they put Adsense(Google) in if thier is no connection to Cydoor .These ads still put cookies on your PC amd probably have hidden watermarks for tracking purposes .
still contend that a better more legitamate way to generate revenue on a comercial proprieatry p2p network is selling DRM files and the fairest DRM is Weed (http://www.weedshare.com/)

i don't know why anybody bothers with this bs crap anyways. any app you have to tell the maker to remove popups or ads or spyware should not be trusted. its executing all kinds of html in the app itself behind your back and only god knows right now what info its exactly communicating back and forth.

KLITETOOLS those are not the only addresses used by Cydoor online advertisements, they have more than 50 addresses they use. And they constantly change among them. If you use Spy Sweeper it will block most online adviertisements by Cydoor and many others.
The one part that you are not understading is that online advetisement by Cydoor are about the same as Google ads, Yahoo ads and MSN ads. They do NOT impose a threat to your computer like Cydoor Adware does. It is impossible to block all online advertisements with the Host file. I have been using eXeem every since they remove the Cydoor Adware and I have not seen one advertisement, thanks to Spy Sweeper.
