Well, my list is based on more of a band's sound than of just one song

Backstreet boys themselves are pretty bad....

Oasis sucks too, thier individual songs are good, but when you get to that point of no experimentation whatsoever, well, the sound does get a bit annoying..
CREED. anything by creed. Like Oasis, they haven't changed thier sound one bit. Unlike Oasis thier sound wasnt good in the first place.
Staind. Like every other NuMetal band. Not that NuMetal is bad, but come on, at least we could have a band with thier own sound!
Vanilla Ice. Ice Ice Baby. Need I say more?
Any pop sensation that was molded by a record company.

Sum 41 sucks. Alient Ant Farm, a one hit wonder that wasn't even their hit! Cockney Rejects aren't very good either... Anything off of the Lords of Oi! Cd collection... Alient Ant Farm wasn't a one hit wonder, they had another that reached the modern rock chart called 'Movies'. I don't know why, but even though I haven't listened to their album in a months, I keep getting their songs stuck in my head!! Either it will be Calico, Flesh and Bone, Happy Death Day... and I don't know why!! I've never had this happen to me before, and it is driving me nuts, because I can't figure it out! Out of all my 6700+ mp3s, Alient Ant Farm just keeps popping up in my brain... I need therapy...

Jesus, I could be here all day telling you the bands and singers I hate, but I´ll keep it short.
My most hated song of all time : "I Will Always Love You", by Whitney Houston. That song makes me wanna slit my throat or shove a grenade down my mouth! So, anything in that vein of "whiny bitch screams her lungs out" is God-awful.
But, from current stuff, I hate Creed, Nickelback and The Calling...every lame Pearl Jam rip-off that´s been manufactured and foisted upon us by major labels, like friggin MOR sissies are the way of the future and the most exciting and innovative thing to come out since someone plugged a guitar to an amp.

On the other hand, I have to say that I just discovered a BRILLIANT band : Blindside. Check it out if you like Deftones or Glassjaw!

The Planet Smashers, Sugar Ray, No Doubt, all teen pop, southern rap (cept for old Triple 6 Mafia), pretty much all late nineties and newer rap, new Slayer, ambient Burzum, post-1990 Metallica, Six Feet Under, modern R&B (it's mostly rap now anyways), Anal Cunt, new Ozzy (corny), most nu-metal, In Flames (for their most recent CD), Bon Jovi (cheese-factor of 100), Meatshits (sexist, homophobic noise), all hair/pop metal bands that try to make a comeback (learn to die gracefully), most poppy punk (Blink 182, FenixTX, ect.). Ok, that's all I can think of at the moment.

I think as a general rule, most bands do water-down or change their style over time. I don't think anyone with ears can say that Metallica or Ozzy play the same as they used to. If someone got into a band for playing a certain style of music, then that band begins playing something else, I think it's fair for them to not like the band as much as they used to. I mean, if one was into thrash in the mid-eighties and loved Metallica, then years later, the band begins playing some sort of heavy blues; I think it's fair to not like them anymore. It's not really a matter of maturity, but a matter of taste. Most people know what they like, and they will let it be known. It's a shame that some people can't accept that.

PiRaNeTuS makes a good point about "selling out" Lets face it music is a business and people shouldn't start disliking someone because they become successful in their profession.

Wings_of_Azrael makes a good point also. Alot of people don't start disliking bands because they sell out but because their musical styles change.

So I guess if it sounds good to you, listen to it, who cares where they came from, if they changed, or sold out. If you like it, listen to it. I'll admit it, I've found myselft humming Britney Spears before. So keep an open mind, listen to artists from genres you normally wouldn't listen to you might be surprised to find you like it.

To me, "selling out" and changing your sound is NOT the same thing. A lot of people think it is, and that's a shame. People change and grow. Why can't the music change with it? Selling out is when you purposely change your sound to get radio and MTV airplay.

The problem, of course, is when a band changes their sound and gets on radio and MTV, did they do it on purpose or did they do it just to change their sound?

BTW, rap doesn't suck. Nelly does, though.

Yeah, right. I made this post in the Zeropaid Lounge because it belonged there. There also wasn't another thread about the worst bands ever, so why not? Also, music relates to P2P because it makes up the most downloaded file type. Another thing - I did tie in P2P to this post - i said that you could download the cup of dirt songs from me, and that relates to file-sharing does it not?

Anyway, about mainstream and underground music... they can both be equally good. Just because a band hits mainstream does not mean they will start to suck or change their sound. Take Nirvana for example. On the other hand, too much exposure can cause bands to have producers that just want to sell the music, or otherwise the band might reach a creative decline. Examples of this are Metallica and the Offspring. Metallica's last great album was their self-titled one, which wasn't compositional like their earlier records, and was good, but their efforts after that have been lackluster. The Offspring had an excellent punk/metal album with Smash, but after that they seemed to follow in Green Day's footsteps and suck up to TRL.

And btw, rap does not suck... there is a lot of it that does, but there are also some great rap records too. Just because you don't listen to rap doesn't mean it can't be good... same thing applies to all types of music.

I gotta make a point about Creed. Why they aren't a good rock band is not only because they don't change their sound, but also because they're not very different from many other bands. More and more alt. rock bands keep popping up, and Creed doesn't distinguish themselves from other bands... Creed's music isn't bad, really, it's just that they just get tiring... how many Creed albums can the world take? And for that matter, how many of the same alt. rock voices can there be?

Thanks Piranetus, I appreciate being respected. I don't doubt that you have a good deal of experience with peer-to-peer technology. However, I only pointed out the thing about being here long and posting frequently because it could affect how well someone interacts with the environment. Some message boards are more serious, while others are laid back. I know, I'm still somewhat of a newbie here myself. I just think it takes a while for people to get used to the environment. What I said had nothing to do with separating people into classes by posting frequency. I know I'd be at the very bottom of the pyramid (or one of the guys with 4 inch penises).

Also, you can post whatever the mods will let you. However, as with everything in life, there will be an effect... such as people replying to your message.

I don't believe that there is no worst band... if you listened to Cup of Dirt, you'd see what I mean...

There are a lot of great bands, but of course there is no best band. There are too many styles and artists to have a best band. There are thousands of best bands for that matter.

I do believe that there is such a thing as good and bad music, however. But saying a style or artists sucks without listening to it is being a close-minded asshole.

Ritsuko Okazaki,Tange Sakura,the one who plays Tomoyo in CCS all have great voice's an most OST (Original Soundtrack - Anime shit) track's are good for calm moods all the way to feeling over joyed by luv. Great music that blows all this tasteless filler shit away. BTW My second hated band would have to be Sum41 they even labled there CD 'All killer no filler' which I'd switch around. I even enjoy some county/folk stuff over this tasteless, meaningless, feelingless shit they put out now. Check out John Mayer it's got that hickish overtone but the song's have meaning an the tab's get the points across well a good example of this is the song 'Quiet' by this guy. Check it out on Kazaa if you get the chance.

BTW Led's stairway to heaven is one of the best. An on my off day's a good Nirvana song get's me going - Polly really pisses me off, Sappy is a depressing song, many more to many to list.

Most artists change their sound. It's just natural for an artist or a band to want to try something different. They are not going to play the same damn thing for twenty years, unless they are AC~DC.

SELLING OUT is when people change their sound ESPECIALLY to make their songs more radio-friendly so they will sell more CDs.

The $250,000 question is when a band changes their sound and ends up getting more radio airplay, is it just a natural progression or is it a result of the band selling out?

Don't hate a band because they make good music and can actually sing. Also, when a band gets some radio hits and becomes popular all of a sudden they become sellouts. I think one becomes a sell out when one of these things happens:

1) They don't write their own music.

2) They do commercials for products. (Britney Spears, Shakira, etc.)

3) They were formed by a record company (Boy bands)

4) None of the band members play an instrument.

5) Their music is meaningless to them.

6) They use back-up singers (not in the band).

I personally hate the idea of music being good just because 'it has a nice beat" or "I can dance to it". I grew up thinking that music had to make you FEEL something. The current crop of rappers (with Nas being a big exception) just don't do that. You have to go old school or underground to find that kind of great rap nowadays.

as being a lead singer for a heavy metal group can i say to get to the level that slipknots at takes skill (or a wealthy record company)

i not the biggest fan of slipknot, but there metal sound is indervidual, with 2 drumers, and a scratch artist they produce a metal/electronic/rap mix that appeals to the un-educated noise listener.

they are great to chuck on at a 'piss up' to get every one head banging and then move into somthing like 'fear factory' and then into some real death metal.

In the 80's, I thought Metallica was the best thing since Black Sabbath (and Ozzy). I don't like Metallica's music near as much now.
I've noticed that a lot people saying the dislike them because they went mainstream and sold out as if those two things mean the same. IMO, that's not true. I didn't quit listening to them because there sound and/or image changed. I didn't think they sold out just because of their growing popularity, either. Enter Sandman was a big breakthrough and accomplishment for them and they deserved that. The thing that killed it for me was the nonstop airplay they started getting(no fault of theirs). I missed not being able to enjoy their music anymore. After a few weeks of hearing Enter Sandman 15 times a day, the enjoyment was gone and it happened with every single after that. I still bought their music to be supportive, even though I hardly listened to it, because I felt they deserved it. Their sound changed, but it was still good, even now. I saw them in concert in '98 and was totally disappointed. Not because they were bad, it was because Master of Puppets was the only song they played from the 80's the whole 2hrs they played. Enter Sandman was the finale and I left as soon as it started. Not once did I consider them a sell-out until after the thing with Napster,. I turned against them completely and never spent another dime on them. The lowest thing a person can do is publically call their fans theives and bastards for file sharing. They wouldn't be where they are now if it wasn't for a lot of us so called theives and bastards.
I know it sounds like I'm taking this too personal. But I consider it personal. I (like most of their fans) gladly spent thousands of dollars over the years supporting them. I remember Metallica when it wasn't about the money, but about standing up for what you believe in. They were just as loyal to their fans as the fans were to them. But now millions of dollars later, they've made me regret it.

I hafta agree with SamJam on the whole Metallica thing--I saw them in 1980-something on the "Monsters Of Rock Tour"--they opened for Dokken, the Scorpions, and Van Hagar. They totally got screwed on the sound--as a matter of fact, the sound got better all day with each passing band until VH came out with full blast, with the benefit of all the available speakers--very cheesy, very very cheezy, I must say. But Metallica, playing with just their stage equipment and no noticible PA, still totally rocked. That took some heart, playing a stadium with a set of club gear, and they shredded the place. It was a major turning point for them--tons of kids ran out and bought "Master OF Puppets" after seeing them on the MOR tour.
Then I saw them some years later with the Soundgarden Metallica Lollapalooza. Soundgarden totally kicked ass, and should have headlined, since all Metal Licka played was all their 12-string guitar rock ballads. Here was the perfect chance to expose tens of thousands of kids to real speed metal, and they played not one of their old rockin songs. A whole new generation could have heard the classics played by the masters themselves--but nooooo!

But then: the Napster bullshit. After that, I can tell you now I wouldn't piss on Metallica now if they were on fire. Metallica used to have a "tapers" section at their shows, trying to show how much they wanted to share their music with their fans. Well, I used to tape the Dead back in the day, and I say that Metallica are bunch of backstabbing petulant little pukes. You wouldn't see Jerry or anyone else from the Dead complaining people were listening to their music for free...

Oh the irony--I saw some Metallica dolls in KB Toys the other day--the prices were cut from $14.99 to 4.99. While it would be fun to stick an M-80 up Kirk Hammetts ass and blow him to hell, I wouldn't spend another nickel on anything that has Metallica written on it. When I'm bored, sometimes I'll download a bunch of their songs just to spite them then delete them all because Metallica Sucks--Metal up YOUR fucking ass, James Hetfield!

As far as everything else, I often find that when a genre or a particular band starts out, they are generally much better than what comes later. Often music becomes derivitive as time goes on, especially if the genre or the band become popular. But that shouldn't be surprising--everythings been played already, as some classical composer once said.
