People who find video games boring won't find any enlightenment from this thread.

However, people who like video games but don't give time sinks like FFXI a chance might feel a tingling. I present to you, the Kirin battle (http://web.mit.edu/psoto/www/ffxivideos/LS%20AgeOfVictory%20vs%20Kirin%20and%20Co%20(1st%2 0attempt)%20wmv.wmv). A little background on this frantic fight: you take an alliance (usually 2 alliances) of 18 people (3 full parties) to an extremely hard to get to area and fight the king god named "Kirin", an extremely high level monster. During the fight, which can last between 45 minutes to 5 hours depending on how well you do, Kirin will summon weaker gods that you must defeat while taking this huge bastard on. The reason you will see "So-and-so calls for help!" on a smaller god, is so the other alliance can join in and help defeat the lesser god.

My character isn't in this video, it takes place on another server. Really though, I just enjoyed the video and wanted to share it with everyone.

That was pretty damn cool. Once Mahler (the one who healed Gaav) went down, I figured that would be the end of it. So now the Aeons are gods huh? Cool deal. In most previous games, you had to battle them anyways.

I have always debated about getting FFXI and whether I wanted it with PS2 or PC. I have not favored it going online as I have enjoyed all the other games solo. The cost is a detractor also. I may consider it at some point though I still have to knock out FFX-2. I'm chronologically anal that way.

Was that music from the battle or was it from a soundtrack? It sounded like it could have been from a FF soundtrack. It was pretty good also. Thanks for the video!

I played ff7, and ff9, grandia 2.

Not into the rpg games anymore. They take too much time, and after you have played 10 to 20 rpgs, they become more waste of time than adventure. ffxi looks cool, but I also like the stand alone games with a good story.

if I can find a good an rpg with a good story that has not been done, or reworked, then I will play on a next gen console.

cool. It is hard to beat the final boss.

I gave FFXI a try... but that was at the same time I was trying to get into Star Wars Galaxies and City of Heroes. One had to go, and it was FFXI. It seemed alright though.
