Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige and Eve are being sued by Madonna’s publishing company for copyright infringement regarding the song ‘Not Today’ which featured on the official ‘Barbershop 2’ soundtrack.

The track which was Dr Dre produced featured singer Blige and rapper Eve. The lawsuit is surprisingly coming from the people who own the rights to Madonna’s ‘Holiday’. Even though the Madge track was made twenty odd years ago the lawyer’s state the copyright has been breached.

Celebrity Justice has reported the publishing company claims the songs are just too similar, Judith Finell the top musicologist has compared them and declares, "Both the pitches and the rhythms sound closely related. I don’t think they’re identical, because Madonna’s song is in what we call ‘major key’ and Mary J Blige’s song is in a minor key." Both parties had no comment on the matter. If the case goes to court the three music stars could face loosing up to $15 million to the plaintiffs.

Now that'd be some funny chit Dr Dre at ZP lol! You know what the more lawsuits they push like this one the more better there going to make it for P2Pers someday some rich bastard is going to beat the copywright infringement imposed and it will give filesharers that much more ground... But in this case its even a bigger form of infringment because he is making money off of what he copied making it a more legit case to present to the DA... But, 20 years pffft thats considered antique time to give it up... New rules need to apply to copywrights and expiration of copywrights...

Madonas a bitch.. She let Missy elliot do a remake of Into the grove... and hollywood.

On another note, Dr Dre is one of our biggest enemy on file sharing.. So karma is good =) All eminem cd has is sampled songs from other albums. Toy soldiers, Dream On..

It would only be good in that you know he would still have a hot temper. After a few flames, Mr. Ulrich would be banned. :devil

What can I say, but: "Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha."
So funny, but serously this could be good. If the courts rule in Dr.Dre's favor it could help set in motion a move to change copyright law, and with groups like EFF grabing the politicans ear we could gain some nice legal ground. :)

considering hip-hop and rap mass recycle old beats and remixes I am pretty sure this will go nowhere fast, unless you are going to kill the industries big seller at the moment

Lars should get slammed with a lawsuit as well ...

People have covered bands for ages and some people even make a living off of doing live shows all covering bands. At clubs and taverns.

I dunno the full story but turn the page that was a cover song though he did well and I like the song really whats the differnce...

The sue happy and the steal happy is it easier to steal or easier to sue?

Thats like asking how many licks it takes to get to the center of a totsie pop.
