View Full Version : World of Warcraft...Why do Dumbasses Try to Hack & Crack it?!
TheGateKeeper

This is just an observation Ive seen browsing various torrent sites:
WHY do people try to CRACK & HACK World of Warcraft?? Ive seen many ISO copies of the 4 disks around the net, and its completely stupid!! People that try to get on the WOW servers with a hacked copy are stupid!!
It can't be done! This game was desinged to be hacker-proof. Even if you managed to get the hacked copies installed on your system, you still couldn't get a proper serial number that their systems would accept! I mean you have to create an account online with a VALID serial number (no replicas will work), then you have to use a valid credit card for the account to be created.
You can only get onto the WOW servers and play with a VALID copy of the game, and a VALID serial number with an account!!
So what Im asking is why the fuck would anyone be stupid enough to try and get onto the game hacked? You must be stupid. Even if by some TINY chance that you got onto the game, the admins would see it in a second, close your account and ban your IP for life!!
Its totally stupid!! So why try it?!:devil WHY!!!
Anyone have any thoughts?!

I think many people are just playing with the game engine. Some do that with Star Wars: Galaxies as well. Sort of like a... (heh) "single player MMORPG".
There may even be private servers for the game. It happens.

Maybe it's just for the thrill... but I'll tell you from my experience within the past few months of playing Star Wars: Galaxies (which is an MMORPG like WoW) that it is most definately worth the price per month to play. You can file a help ticket to a dev at noon and get your problem fixed within 30 minutes. There's always someone to help if you need it, and every week they add new features, fix bugs, and have in-game events. Regular games will maybe get 1 or 2 patches in their lifetime, popular games (like the battlefield series) much more than that, but no one-fee game has weekly patches.

I see nothing wrong with people trying to learn how to hack or crack things.

I used to play SWG, Hawkburn
I had fun, but it was taking soooo long to do anything.
I remember it took me over half an hour to DRIVE my speeder to Jabba's pad, only to get denied a meeting because I had whacked too may of his gang in self defense.
I quit SWG about the same time I quit City of Heroes. Grinding, grinding, grinding, grinding...

People have servers they can connect to and play within other groups.. Like halo that came out for xbox, has been done up by others to have online play instead of networking 4xboxes together. Other sites have game clans and servers to connect others up on there.

I dont really get it either, most MMORPG's are on p2p networks with no real point or purpose

There are such things as crack server patches, you know.
While not even a comparable experience, it does allow many people to get together and play online.

Yeah, private servers. There used to be some for that Ultima game. I dont know how popular it was, or if people still play because I dont bother with that nerdy MMORPG nonsense. I cant believe anybody pays monthly subscription fees for any game. These people obviously have more money than brains or else just really really like leveling up their little fairy ninjas or whatever through tedious, repetative battles.

Private servers with groups there is many servers that are out there that will function without need of a cdkey... And a free account setup but the bummer with them is that they do not have the money to invest in upgrading and keeping them running like the companies do but for the person who plays and gets bored quick its definately a solution.

why because its there pointless or not its a challenge example microsoft's windows activation they provide a challene and someone accepts some people dont like to be told no you cant do that
Malakai1911
January 26th, 2005, 07:07 PM
It's kinda weird. You dont need the CD's to play once the game is installed, and the game comes with a 10 day guest pass for a friend (it says on the pass "let you friend borrow the cd's, he wont need them after the install"). A nocd isnt needed.
Now, I thought you meant bots or glitches... which in my mind would be a more serious problem.

Nothing is hack proof. I don't want to sound like an elitist. I don't know cracking or hacking, just the basic concepts, but everything that can be made, can be unmade.

Well I know a computer can be hack proof. Unplug it. Anyways, if you want to learn how to hack legally, read this book called hacking for dummies. It's just that i think at the same time, you're learning how to hack illegally too. Yes, i know that hacking this game is a waste of time. Just go buy the game. This game sucks too. Ever heard of Guild Wars. Way better. No monthly fees. Improves everything world of warcraft have. Best game of 2005. And yes, even the RTS of warcraft ( warcraft 3) sucks. Low population limit. But I just want to tell you that i don't hate blizzard. I love them because they made the best RTS science fiction game. That is starcraft. I played it for months and i'm still not bored. I can't wait for Starcraft 2. Anyways, Blizzard is not good making rpgs. Diablo is a hack and slash rpg. Rpg is supposed to have a strong storyline. By the way, starcraft ghost is not starcraft 2.

starcraft 2 is in production?
cool...
didn't know that.
There is a community effort to build a starcraft game with the war craft 3 engine.
don't remember the name but i heard they are in advanced stages..
sounds cool.

You can play world of warcraft online, you just need to register on one of many of the cracked servers out there. There are as much people playing on these as the official ones.

Is starcraft 2 going to have the same amount of population limit as starcraft? I'm a gamer that likes to rush all my units out and kill everything in their path without me watching them to kill because i got to create more units and watch out for counter attacks in my base. First, they use the guardians to kill my turrets. Then my enemy can use a transport and unload like 5 lurkers around my terran SCVs and kill them all in like 10 seconds. If they are all killed, my economy is going to slow down and you know that rebuilding them is like a very long process. And that's just my explanation why I need 200 or more population limit. And for world of warcraft, I think that blizzard entertainment doesn't maintain those cracked servers so if there are like some cheaters that uses a trainer to cheat online then they will ruin the entire game. If you want to try out the game like a demo then that's good but if you want to play it forever then you should go buy the game.

Are you guys freaking kidding me?
A lot of my friends play WOW on a cracked server. The topic creator is a moron if he thinks everyone will play WOW and pay.

Sure play on a cracked server, it won't be the same expearience, and plus if you get caught which you most likely will, your banned from ever playing again. The people that choose to do this are the morons!

Get caught by who? These servers are run by various people around the world. I don't get what you will be banned from.

there are many free private servers for WoW, but they require you to "modify" your install of WoW.

i totally agree. no matter how good a game is, no matter how many unlimited game play hours you can have with it, paying continualy for a game when you can buy another game and only pay once is just stupid. i know why they make you pay, and i totally agree its necessary, but the game shouldnt have been made if it cant be played without costing the developer constant cash.

The 3rd party servers are pretty cool.
I've never been to level 60, so I downloaded and ran my own personal server so i could see how it is. Pretty neat, I had a lv60 with elite items and 9999 gold and a mount.... was fun for like 5 min.
I still pay monthly to blizzard.
Maybe if i had a fat pipe and dedicated server I'd quit and just play with friends on a private, though.

On wow server
you pay 49$ 4 the game 14.95 per month some option 4, 12 per month ,but the thing is u lvl up so slowly
that to get a great gaming experience is very time consuming .+ they sell you gold ,aha to get up faster but wait 100 copper =1 silver 100 silver =1 gold and on the wow site 1000 gold sells 4, 400 $ of real money
to get that from gaming experience is like endeless
Thats right folks 1000 virtual gold for 400 real dollars after paying all of the above .with an estimated 6 000 000 players in the us alone that adds up to an virtual gold mine of real money dont it?So to trying to atempt to get on the server 4 free is dementia but to try to get your own server is something else ....
by the way ive even seen a horse in wow that was worth 1000 gold to buy in the game .
so if any of you has any idea on how they go about making ther own server i will love to hear i know there are some out there but i am just curious on how they go about
ahh when its zeropaid its better!!

The epic 60 mounts go down in price depending on your faction with the city. Starting at 1000, then for Honored reputation is 900 and so on. And if you know where to look, you can get much better prices for gold.
The place I use:
200 gold = $ 12.60
300 = 18.70
500 = 30.90
1K = 60.90
1.5K = 90.70
2K = 120.30
3K = 179.00

As far as running a server you simply need to download the server software off bittorrent and set it up. It really isn't too different from setting up a webserver.

Ever notice how some topics seem to divide the masses?
Ask yourself what those sides are and which side you are on?
Can it be done? The answer simply is yes, and not as hard you might think.
Is it worth doing? No, not because of the almighty wrath of blizzard,
but because there are just so many better things to do with your life.
Anyway, that's just my two cents.

i think both sides are stupid
one side that wastes every waking hour playing a video game to create a pretend life, and the others who pay cash for someone else's virtual crap
cheating? the cheats seem infinitely more interesting than the actual game

Perhaps you don't understand, gate keeper. The following are quotes which perfectly describe ... us;
We explore... and you call us criminals. We seek after knowledge... and you call us criminals. We exist without skin color, without nationality, without religious bias... and you call us criminals. You build atomic bombs, you wage wars, you murder, cheat, and lie to us and try to make us believe it's for our own good, yet we're the criminals...
"My crime is that of curiosity. My crime is that of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like. My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive me for."
-- The Mentor
Perhaps now, you understand?

have you ever seen GM mode videos from WoW pirate servers? you can type into the console and spawn/kill anything you want
WonderNerd
June 15th, 2006, 02:58 AM
Yeah. Most online games can do that. What your doing is calling a function on the server through the command prompt console (atleast it works the same way as command prompt or terminal). I've seen this done on Battlefield 2, and many other massive multiplayer games.

:icon_thum Man!!! all those mmorg sure made some noise, but honestly....leveling up your charecters aint that cool like playing fps like bf2, ut2004, cs:source, day of defeat, quake 4...etc etc.
Anyway...i dont give a damn to wow.( It's lame that you gotta pay for playing that game every month)
May be all of you guys know about steam and the way it interact with its games. Its kindda sick that although you own the game you gotta go to online to activate the game. It's kindda slavery to me. I'm sick of it.
Playing a game online in multiplayer mode is alright, but playing a game that is entirely depends on internet is suck.
And buying these mmorg is waste of money ( $49 and monthly $20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). You cant play these kindda games on a remote place in your laptop.
LEGAL OWNERS OF THEIR GAME GO TO THEIR OWN WAY, LEAVE THESE CRAKED GAMES TO THEIR WAY \\\\ITS NOT FOR PROFIT, YOU KNOW

Hmm.. why would you waste your time playting WoW when it's summer.. You can sit on a terras, get drunk, enjoy the weather in the park, (and the view at people ofcourse) .. Get a job as barkeeper, Even do some things for college maybe? I mean.. it's just not worth the time you have to play to reach something... and by the time you did, you could have had a so much better life outdoor :D let alone try to hack some game.. just in order to "seek knowledge".. well, we all have or ideals in life i guess.. :S
