Hi

Some days ago my mates and I came up with the idea of setting up a website for our band called Sue Ellen.

As I am quite keen on programming and our webspace is rather limited I thougt of including ed2k and sig2dat links of our songs on the website, so that people can download and listen to our songs whithout having to store them on the web server. So far, so good.

Now I am thinking of programming a tool that allows me to generate these links based on our songs and store them in a database which is hooked to the website. I explicitly do not want to use any tools e.g. sig2dat or K-Sig as I want to create a completely automated process for link-deployment.

For ed2k links that should not be a problem as the hash is a straight forward MD4. As for the sig2dat link it seems to become a little bit tricky. The UUHash in the link is not as straight forward (although based on MD5) as it seems. I searched the communities to gain some insight but could not come up with anything really useful.

Howerver, does anyone know how the implementaion is done, or can anyone provide me with some documents (websites) which may help my cause.

Another thing I am really interessted in is, once you have the sig2dat link and create a .dat file for downloading how is the 20byte file signature within the .dat file created (calculated). Any clues?

thx
