it's harder to keep track of, and communicate search queries to all of the users in a decentralized network. kazaa doesn't search every computer because it would really bring down network performance. i think gnutella2 comes closer to searching the entire g2 network...but i can't say that with certainty.

it really depends on the network's design.

G2 searches just about the whole network but obviously it takes a little longer, plus it's a fairly small network (although it reached quarter of a million users the other day).

Centralised networks are easy to take out. Pull the plug on the server and BAM! Everything's down.

in a decentralized system, the peers are the servers. the load of searching/communicating is distributed among everyone.

audiogalaxy gathered everyone's list of files, and put them in huge databases, and that's where the searches took place.

I see, the decentralized system has advantage: it doesnt need a lot of servers... and web based system needs them a lot of, if they wanna to handle a millions of users. true?
yes

Basically operates like the internet nodes relay the information instead of having one central server which relays all the messages there are several computers on the network which relay the information.... Or thats my basic understanding of it all.
