Ya know... alot of people would say that christian heavy metal sucks... but their wrong. I have to admit.. this god metal is prolly some of the best stuff I have ever heard. Some bands include Underoath, Extol, Zao, and Demon Slayer. And holy shit can they rock! I think Zao might even be anti-christs (secretly of course). In one of their songs it sounds like they are saying "God f*cked my own best friend". You gotta check them out if your a fan of the modern metal.

yeah, i'm a christian and i've been listening to metal for years. alot of the bands who are at the forefront of the scene today are christian. i see you found some solidstate records bands. if you want more, facedown records also has alot of good hardcore/metal bands. oh and about that zao lyric from suspension suspend, they're definitely christians, and it's "death took my old best friend." zao is my favorite.

It's interesting that Christian music is one of the few genres identified by the contents of their lyrics. Most of the other classifications of music have to do with style. We can usually identify a heavy metal song, a punk rock song, a pop song or a country song just by listening to the flow of the music, regardless of the lyrics. That's just an observation, not judgement. What I find ironic about all of this is that way back when Rock and Roll first emerged, many Christians labeled it "the devil's music." But, somehow, today, the "devil's music" has been enlisted to promote the Gospel. Now, there's nothing really wrong with this, as there is a difference between the music and the lyrics. I know of a number of songs that "have a good beat" but the lyrics really suck...and vice versa. But the phenomenon of Christian Rock (and now the sub-genres too) is another example of "if you can't beat them, join them." Early on, the Fundamentalist Christians wanted to wipe out Rock and Roll...the "devil's music." When it became too big for them to fight, they decided to use it instead. Just like the early Christian Church did with the Pagan symbols. Where do you think the Christmas Tree came from? Certainly not the Bible! So, an enemy became a tool. Hmmmm. I wonder if they'll ever figure out a way to preach the Gospel using Howard Stern.

i actually went to a stryper concert many years ago - comparatively speaking with the other 80s hair metal bands they were 77% as good as 53% of them

no, i was not able to catch any of the bibles which were thrown into the audience - and thus began my life with the church of satan

honestly i think that christian music is identified by it's content because christians made it that way. alot of christians will have nothing to do with secular music, so when they're told of a new artist usually the first thing usually asked is "is it christian?" really i can only speak for myself and what i see and i know that in my case, i would rather listen to christian music because it's easier for me to relate to. it holds an extra dimension of purpose for me that secular music just doesnt provide. everyone has those albums that they can completely identify with that they kinda put on a pedestal. it's just with christians, most "christian music" does that for them so it's what theyd rather listen to. i wouldnt say that christian rock is an "if you cant beat 'em, join 'em" case. i think that it should also be taken into account that not all christians grow up being christians. those that called rock and roll the "devils music" are either dead or dont have the energy to be anywhere near as loud as they used to be. chances are they havent changed their mind about that, and their children probably either feel the same way, or payed it no mind due to the lack of proof that it was "the devils music" in the first place. i and most christians i know are up for any style of music, christian or secular, unless the lyrics are blatantly against what we believe. to each their own.

Some people say that lyrics really matter in heavy metal, but they really don't. Lets be honest here... how many true heavy metal songs (mostly screaming) can you actually understand what they're saying? The dude can be screaming about how he bought a teddy bear and still make it sound f*cking awesome, because you can't tell what hes saying. The lyrics don't really matter.

well if u make an assumption about christian heavy metal lyrics there would be no curses in it, not all metal music is screaming.
it depends
btw lyrics do matter to me in a metal song but thats me
whatever u decide is your business but i know what i like.

Christan Rock or Metal bands bahhh!

Who cares leave the christan off and just call em rock or metal bands whats the big differnce music can be about religion no matter what kind of music it is but that shouldnt make it a whole nother genre or at least I dont think when I look at Creed and POD I get tired of these bands (though creed is no more) being labled as christan rock bands I found the CD's in the rock section of Sam Goodie and many other music stores there is no need for whole new genres of music based off of a religous following ... If you have listened to a true christan music tape it is nothing of the sort so how could you say christan rock or christan metal its just lame IMHO theres really nothing all too christan about it other then the band members may be christan but hey if they make good music who gives a shit what kinda religious following they go under unless you dont have a mind of your own and wannabe like everything or everybody else you hear or see... I know dam well when I flip on POD or Creed and play some tracks I sure the fuck aint thinking about church or religion I am thinking about listening to some rock music simply put.... And it sure dont change my outlook on religion as it being a crock of shit.

Well, it appears that some Christians have not given up the notion of Rock and Roll's being the devil's music. Just take a look at this page which comes up first when you do a Google search of the words Rock and Roll and Devil: http://www.av1611.org/rock.html

I can appreciate a Christian metal band if the music's good, but I still don't think "God" will ever rock as hard as "Satan", especially with Deicide still around.

Well dislexia is your problem...

Majority of the world does not have the condition that you have so it is important that you do your part and try to adjust to the world not have the world adjust to you.

I honestly am sorry about your condition but hey its the way the world works lets face it any type of handicapped person has to do adjusting in some way or another.

I dont get payed to post on here therefore I dont feel the need to be professional when posting. I am not a perfectionist and also believe that no one is no matter how hard they try to bullshit there point that they are perfect.

But I will tell you what StonnedCabbage I'll try my best not to make paragraphs so big I'll admit sometimes I get carried away with the size of my posts, and run on sentantcing.

This post was made just for you bud no sarcasams or puns intended just trying to keep it cool.

Heh heh... whats funny is that I'm atheist. I don't believe in religion at all. In fact, I think religion is the reason why we have war. Think about it..... the those crazy Arab's didn't have religion, then there would be no "Alah" that tells them to fly into buildings. Without religion, there would be no war between the jews and the arabs. So basically, I support bands who I believe worship soemthing that doesn't really exist. I find myself surprizing!

Also, it's true not all metal music doesn't scream...as much. A real metal song will have screaming.. even if its just a little bit. If theres no screaming, it's either pop music, rap, hair bands, or some other form of shit.

God + Jesus = Cheese + Crackers and a whole lotta nothin.............wha?

No offense takken.

You state your view I stated mine... And you replied quite quickly which leads me to believe you are no sloth when it comes to frequenting ZP....

Sure this is my second home right now but when it starts warming up or things start gettin kinda hectic as they always do I to will tone it down a notch.

But in respective everyone has there own view on things my view is that sometimes to clarify a point you must take the time and effort to explain a little more in depth what you are talking about...

I am not one for posting a constant biradge of one liners.... many of my posts are long you wish to skip them fine but dont use lack of time as an excuse I sometimes dont read the long posts because I am just plain too lazy to read it all...

The most popluar excuse for laziness is I dont have the time...

This may not be your case as I am sure you will clearly state that it is not if you do read this full posting.
