ok .. i havent a clue what the problem was..at first i thought it was my corrupted Drive then i thought it was the windows CD 2k and xp but it isnt
what happens is..everything is going smoothly and then something like winzip or Firefox hangs and then Crashes ..and i cant use it again until i reboot
also when i try CTRL ALT DEL the task manager just hangs in the bottom bar u cant open it
Im running Windows XP 855 mhz 512 ram
i havent installed anything hardware wise out of the ordinary iv even formatted and installed XP and 2k on 2 other drives.. so odviously its not my disks?
it could be another problem?
i highly doubt its a virus .. cuz i did virus scans and adaware scans and nothing picked up ..even with the latest stuff
could it be my fan .. or is there any way to check for a full system scan or a hard drive scanner or whatever?

Try Everest, as its a great tool for benchmarking things to see if theres a voltage, or temp problem, as well as much more info.

What I would do is open up your windows task manager (when it works) and see what processes are running, if anything looks strange, type it in google and click the first link that comes up with the process name, I've done that and found a few little .exes that have escaped my adware identifiers and virus scanners. As a matter of fact, I just got rid of PDsched.exe which was a backdoor trojan installed with PerfectDisk! These virus writers are getting clever. Also, if you haven't updated Mozilla to its newest version 1.0...I recommend it, that preview version they had for awhile crashed my system often.

Hmm, I don't have either of those .exes running on my Windows XP system man. I'll help you look them up and see what I can find. The first one didn't appear to be too promising as it turned up in a antivirus forum (never a good sign) lets see, the second one "rasautou.exe" appears to be okay, the first webpage that came up described its use and says that it shouldn't be causing any harm to your system. The third process "ctfmon.exe" is nonessetial like the second process (which I forgot to mention) and shouldn't be cuasing any problems as well. That first process "winregs32cdn.exe" definetly needs more research, I think its some sort of virus or trojan that wasn't deleted because it was running.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\Winregs32cdn.exe
Just delete the bloody damned thing already!
In Spybot to go Mode > Advanced Mode then down to TOOLS
Check each catagory there, and paste in here, remove rogue start up items
Post your HiJackThis log here so someone can have a clue.
Use Administrative Tools > Event Viewer to see whats hanging up etc, and save that, paste here.
Someone formulate a plan, im just passing thru.
