How Do I Connect DVD unit to VHS unit to record?

I just got my first DVD unit.

I need to make a presentation and I want to copy some stuff on DVD onto a VHS tape. Can anyone please explain how I would connect the two units so that I can tape it.

Just connect the AV cords from the dvd player to the AV input on your vcr.If you are trying to record something from commercial dvd's it probably won't work though because they have macrovision.
Very few don't.
If it's something you recorded to dvd,then it'll work.

I tried it and you're right it doesn't work.

Is there any other option??? Is it not possible to copy clips from a DVD running on your TV using your VCR???

One way is If you have a dvd burner you can rip the dvd to your hard drive using software that removes the macrovision, and burn the dvd. Now you can run the burned dvd in your player and your VCR will copy it.

if your going to be doing alot of this either to or from the vcr i would suggest going to a salvation army store (or some other second hand shop) and pick up a mid 1980's vcr made before macrovision

i bought one to "back up" some vhs tapes i had. the vcr only cost me 2$

Question: Will not a video amp from radioshack boost the signal enough to enable the vcr to see the signal, and record it?

Would boosting it even work? I thought the Macrovision was an additional signal made to interfere with the main one when a copy and attempted and thats what the VCR sees and displays? Older vcrs simply dont know to look for the additional signal thus they dont support macrovision.

Well, i might have this wrong, and it wouldnt be the first time but, as I recall the sales of these boosters were bitched about for just this very reason. What Im talking about, is an RF modulator, and a friend that is a tec from the old school, IE back in the days of the RadioShack Trash 80 computor, was the one that felt it would work. Hang on and I will do a bit of digging.

No problem!
I think the video stabaliser is the best option,if you don't have a dvd recorder in your pc.
There is a link to a video stabaliser in the link hunter found.You can probably find a cheaper one at radio shack,but at least it gives you an idea what it looks like.

here's a new model.. this will digitizes the video signal and show you the exact image quality from your DVD/VHS by removing those unnoticed Macrovision signal.

go to walmart and get a composit video to cable channel3/4 modulator around $15-30). an antenna amp with the former will clean up the signal for signal loss from the conversion, may not be nessassary 12db will be fine 24 is overkill but will work. Composit video amplifiers will not eliminate background light dark shift, but will clear some of the macrovision diagional lines.

Just from my own experience, When I've hooked up my DVD player to / through myVCR for recording, the Movie / Screen would keep fading from normal to a darker screen / picture no matter what movie it was. It could just be my VCR though. Even if I just try to play my DVD through my VCR I would get the same problem.

also on a side not depending upon what kidna dvd playur u have u can use hackd firmware, i did ths on my apex ad-5131 years ago for this exact reason and it wrk like a charm

If your VCR is not an older type that would be caused by the copy protection. Get an external RF booster unit, and that should solve the problem.

you can also pick up a cheap DVD burner for about $25 on price watch. that will get you a lot further even after your presentation is done
