The sequel to the surprise hit Thriller movie Saw
Not much is known right now, but pre-production starts early 2005 (Feb)
New information says the movie wont be called "Hacksaw" ...
Saw 2 is also to be released on October 28th 2005.
Anyone who has info on this movie just post it here.
Don’t you think its slightly early for a sequel?

Saw was ONE OF the best movies of 2004, reviews were good too, i really didn't think it would do as well as it did, hopefully Saw 2 will be better. Though i know this is bullshit but on some sites they say Michael Jackson and Eminem will star... LOL

Maybe I just don't see the value in a poorly made movie with poorly delivered terrible dialogue by actors working perhaps at their absolute worst.
It had great potential... but that's about all.

I've noticed your very hard on movies in general. Maybe jaded is the right word. Are you the girl in the back thats always saying "people can't really do that" or "A car can't really flip like that"? I was once that way but now I just enjoy them for what they are, a way to shut my brain down for 90 minutes. Saw wasn't great but it was a good ride. Its one I wouldnt care to watch again though. All movies can't be a master piece like Pulp Fiction.
I have to say a sequel makes me think less of Saw 1. There is somehting to be said about being unique. Its a safe bet this movie will blow the horse.

Hmm... I'm not the one that says "They can't do that!" but I'm the one that says "That rug wasn't there a second ago." [American Beauty, one of those dinner scenes]

Update:- 11th Feb 2005
Lots of info about Saw 2 has been flying around the net of late. It's been fun, but producer Gregg Hoffman wants to set the everything straight...
Some of this is new, some of it has been reported on, and some of it hinted at, but everything that follows concerning SAW 2 you can consider confirmed.
1) The title is just Saw 2, not "Saw 2: Hacksaw". (I was wrong)
Where the hell did this whole "Saw 2: Hacksaw" thing start? The script is just called SAW Period. Maybe that'll change down the road, but everyone needs to lose the "Hacksaw" part of it.
2) There are no issues with getting a script ready in time.
We've had a sequel script since about a week after SAW opened. It was a screenplay that was submitted to me as another potential movie idea for us to produce. After I pitched Oren Koules (one of the other Twisted Pictures partners) the idea, he said that could be Saw 2 with a few changes. It's turned into more than "a few" changes, but the only way we could ever hope to get the sequel into theaters 12 months after the original was to start with an existing script. James and Leigh are in Los Angeles now and are personally supervising the next draft of the script.
3) There IS a director and he WILL be announced soon.
- I think your spies may be closing in on his identity, but you'll get nothing more from me about this until I'm damn well good and ready!
4) PG-13? GET REAL!
- There is NO CHANCE IN HELL we would ever turn the franchise into a PG-13 wuss fest! Give us some damn credit here! Remember, we don't answer to any corporate body. I can guarantee there's going to be plenty of "kick" to the new film. We don't want to go through the same MPAA battle we had last time, but WE ARE NOT SELLING THIS FRANCHISE OUT (until at least Saw 4!)
5) The film will be shot in Canada.
- We'll be shooting this one in a large Canadian metropolis west of Montreal and East of Calgary.
So while rabid fan interest is a great thing for any franchise, let's all be glad Gregg's not only on top of what's getting out about the project, but also that he's willing to communicate with the fans so that stuff doesn't get out of control.

I thought it was OK, not great, but it was the top rated horror of 2004 on imdb.
I much perfered Shaun of the Dead but that's really a different catagory.
BTW Saw was not banned in Australia it's MA which means restricted to >=15yrs, not even R.

I vote 2 thumbs way up for Saw 1.
Killer story, killer twist, and killer gore. As for the acting, well, average, but still the film as a whole was awesome.
I like balls to the wall horror tho, this movie was in the same vein as House of 100 Corpses, and Texas Chainsaw, both of which I really liked too... Richard Roeper summed it up well in his thumbs down review of the movie.... "This movie takes an almost pornographic approach to horror." Not that it has anything to do with porn....

Also, im skeptical about a sequel. It might ruin the original.

Bloody-Disgusting recently talked to James Wan about the upcoming horror flick Saw 2, hitting theaters this October.
"Let me cut to it, SAW2 is going to be NASTY! There are scenes in this one that makes me squirm just thinking about it. On the first film, we didn't have any budget to show you anything, so I had to hide it all with quick cuts...SAW2 is a different story. Darren has a bigger budget on this one to do it right. He's gonna have a better financial support than I did on the first one..."
More: http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/index.php?Show=3683&Template=newsfull
"We are really exploring the story of Jigsaw [Tobin Bell] so it's really his story. We all know that he is slowly dying of cancer so 'Saw 2' will have to be his final hurrah. I just got back from Toronto where they are shooting. They are all such good actors so seeing Donnie Wahlberg and Tobin Bell going at it is a thrill."
As for the amount of blood shed in the film, "The gore level follows the number one rule of sequels as laid down in 'Scream 2,' bigger, better and more. It is so violent and it makes 'Saw' look like a chin stroking psychological thriller with no scenes of blood or gore."

___________
I also think this is a joke:
"The MPAA has turned thumbs down on advertising materials featuring severed fingers that Lions Gate Films had distributed to Web sites to promote its upcoming horror film "Saw II." In an announcement released Friday, the MPAA said its Advertising Administration, which reviews all advertising and publicity materials submitted by producers and distributors for a film rating, had not approved the material. If it had, it would have found that "materials for the film 'Saw II' (that) display dismembered fingers ... is unacceptable under Advertising Administration standards."

The timeline doesn't make sense to me....
Spoilers ahead, in white.
Okay, so Jigsaw is Amanda's mentor. The stuff on the monitors is pre-recorded, the feed is coming from a duplicate house. While the SWAT team is at this house feeling stupid or frustrated, Eric's at the real house finding dead bodies and finds the door that was under the safe, goes down the stairs and stumbles into that room that looks oh-so-familiar with rotting bodies and all. How cute. Amanda's hiding in the tub, jumps up and stabs Eric with some stuff, he is knocked out and is then attached to some pipe. He comes to, and sees her saying "Game Over" and slamming the door on him, locking him in forever. However, she also had to haul out the kid and shove him in that safe and leave it back at the old factory Jigsaw's found in, where the story begins. So the kid was there to begin with.... then the cops came in and found it all, the people were already dying or dead (how was the kid not dead yet?), and Amanda was just waiting in that house for Eric to come along. Right? Did I just explain it to myself?
edit: Another thought I had... also in white. :)
Unless Amanda moves the van, someone would find it eventually right? So someone would find the house?

There was a LOT of hype last year for Saw... It was supposed to come out at the end of August, and just kept getting pushed back.... That is never a good sign (when a movie gets pushed back a bunch). Every scene Cary Elwes was in, I just kept thinking of him in Liar, Liar. I had no expectations for him, but really.... it was pretttttty bad.
I agree tha the acting was better in the second one. At least this time I wasn't laughing at their misery the whole time.....

Who is the good doc that you're talking about, i don't remember?
The reason why i said Saw 3 would be shit was because ...
In white:
that woman at the end who says "Game Over" and when she talks in the recorder thing, it just sounds shit and doesn't give it that feeling ...

In white...
The doctor being the one who chopped his ankle off in the first Saw, the one who in the flashbacks in Saw II was on the one who told Jigsaw about his cancer.

oh yeah, the one at the end of Saw who's like "I'll come for you, i wont leave you" him and the other guy who were locked up were great.
thats about the first Saw for anyone who doesn't know, so im not spoiling Saw 2 for anyone.

Hey!
The dubbing version is coming on Thursday.
Is it as good as SAW I ? Even better?
In my opinion SAW and Butterfly effect were the best movie in 2004.

The Butterfly Effect was the best film I have seen in a long long time. The storyline... it's just epic.
I heard Saw II is meant to be seriously gory, a little too gory I was told actually.
