I think for default you need to open 411-413 TCP/UDP? I'm not at home so I can't check my setup.
Or you can change to different ports in the settings and then open up those instead on your router.

nope, in DC++ you need to specify a port number along with your external IP address in the settings, then forward that port (both TCP and UDP) to your computer.

@cpu: Is that only for braodband users? What if I don't have a router? Does it still apply?

nope, in DC++ you need to specify a port number along with your external IP address in the settings, then forward that port (both TCP and UDP) to your computer. In older versions, I thought there was just a default port, like other apps (ie 6881 for BT)... I guess this has changed for the newer releases....

haha, I just had to choose "Passive" in the connection settings, thats all. now everything works good.
Yeh, that works, except you wont be able to connect to any other "passive" users.

@Fowler: you only need to set IP/port settings if you're behind a router...dialup users, or broadband users without a router are uneffected.
and modestas, you can set whatever port you like in the Port textbox...then forward that one (both TCP/UDP) to your computer. active connections are better than passive connections...hawkburn told you why :)

for example: 411 and 413?
sure, that should work...but last i checked you only needed one port.

i think the newer releases use a random port unless otherwise specified.

donno if it's been mentioned, but I need my correct IP in the settings tab to get search results, which is an issue for me because I'm not static.

Thats cause you suck at life or have you tried turing it to passive in settings that should do it perhaps

grab a dynamic hostname at www.dyndns.org and get a little auto-updater :) (your router might even update it for you...look for a setting)

Forward 411 only, and use that for TCP + UDP. DC++ Sometimes has issues using 2 different ones.
