Lots of files on there and high bitrates too. :gj

^ I completely disagree.
The best for multiple filetypes, I believe, is the King Supreme-- BitTorrent. DUH. I know it's a bit mainstream and shit, but it's awesome. Also, best for music? Piolet. unf.
anywho...yeah
THE BEST WAY TO FIND OUT WHAT YOU THINK THE BEST P2P PROGGIE IS...
get off your digital ass, download a few spyware-free ones, and try 'em out.

Shareaza in my opinion. It accesses the top networks. It downloads BitTorrent, Edonkey, along with Gnutella 1 & 2. No spyware or ad ware. It is open source. For someone getting away from the Fast Track network, it is a good transition from Kazaa, etc. to BitTorrent, whick as rebirth said above, is where you need to be. BitTorrent is the network to go to for downloads.

I've used Shareaza ages ago. When it first came out. I've still got the prog on my pc. Don't use it, mainly cus it lacks alot of rare songs. I've been filesharing for years had loads of progs.
I still say www.winmx.com is by far the best for all music & movies new and old, no fake files.
Anyway doesn't matter people make there own minds up.
Anybody used that prog called 'MUTE yet? :blah

well, it depends from you wishes: what do you wanna to download. as I have said not once, for music slsk and ares are the best / for video emule and edonkey are the best (with thoose two you have to have a lot of patient).

For music I prefer dc++ I can find any song I want, and if I want the whole album I just select download whole directory and since there are no queues it's very fast.
For large files bittorrent is the best as long as you can find a tracker. If you can't find a torrent of a large file. Use any of the programs that use the edonkey or overnet networks. In windows I use shareaza and in linux I use the edonkey2000/overnet core and ed2k-gui.
Also before you download programs, check on them at this site to see if they have adware or spyware. There is no reason to support these money-grubbing bastards.

There is no *best program* I use Linux and I use 3 or 4 p2p programs. This is what I use.
amule
BT
(I have used kazaalite sherman networks)
and I've used IRC/Usenet.
Also I use freenet from time to time.
All of them are good in their own way. All of them have negatives and positives. I find the e2dk network and BT to be very close with each other. Both in system in design, users and content. BUT each will STILL have their fanboys. There is a user that goes by meyou123 that is obsessed with BT! Go up to him and say that any other p2p program is better and he will bite your head off. LOL
But thats it. There is no best program. Just a program that works for you. For me it is at lest 3!

Whoa, don't get confused! Just because Shareaza supports E2K doesn't mean it has the spyware. And it will NOT detect anything about Grokster. That is FastTrack (same as Kazaa) and Shareaza does not support FastTrack. Where did you get that from.
If you run a check, it will detect Xolo, BearShare, Shareaza, and E2K. That's because any file sharing program is detected and considered a pest.
What are the twon biggest file sharing networks?
1. BitTorrent.
2. EDonkey.
WinMX does not support these two. Shareaza does. I am talking number of different files for download and where the most file shareing is done. Shareaza is a good answer for the two. ABC is a good BT program.
Go to Slyck and chect the numbers for regular P2P- as I am typing the stats are:
January 3, 2005 - 19:00
Network Users
eDonkey2K 2,698,388
FastTrack 2,065,657
Warez 1,402,729
Gnutella 1,115,086
Overnet 1,056,558
DirectConnect 273,485
MP2P 264,043 (WinMX)
Filetopia 4,430
Looks like E2K leads the others. BitTorrent is the king of the all, using a third of the internet bandwidth. WinMX is a great OpenNap engine, the sheer numbers goes to E2K and BitTorrent. Shareaza is a good choice to access both networks.

I use these four hubs, sometimes one or two will be offline but I can still find what I need, I don't know if slsk supports multiple hubs or not:
metalwarriors.no-ip.info
mp3metal4ever.dyndns.org
DC3.KarlstadRocks.se
HPN3.no-ip.org:23
these are mostly rock hubs, but I searched for geto boys, snoop dog, ruben studdard, and spears and I still got alot of results.
Also here is where I get my hublist:

@EndGame...Listen, I have had just about enough of you attacking me in TWO threads I have read already and I have said nothing to you in this or another thread you posted in. You got a problem with ME? Then PM me! (By the way, check your PM) But this IS going to stop. Just because I have had a disagreement with you over a post does not mean you can go to every post and say that I am this or I am that.
And by the way, I was going to say that there IS no one p2p program...that they ALL have their uses. So it seems you really don't know what the hell you are talking about as far as what I use, do you? I use many p2p programs, but I also use BT. I don't care if anyone uses another program or not, just as long as they share the files they have.
But understand these attacks stop here and now...next time you start downing me in another post, we'll let Janet decide it. Don't take that as a threat...take it as a promise!

Now back to your question....I don't think that there is any single program that does it all. All of them have different uses. Some share everything, while others only share music files. Take Blubster, it only does music files.(Though I heard they were going to start doing all files in the future, don't know if it has happened yet or not) But a program like Shareaza does all kinds of files. So it all depends what you are after as to which p2p program you pick. Speed in a network is also a consideration. So it really is up to you as to what you are looking for and what program will download it the fastest. Again, there really is no one perfect network, just favorites people have.

Winmx doesn't need BT support. When I'm running Winmx and see a torrent I want, I fire up BitTornado and devide the bandwidth between the two. Runs very well on my POS computer.
Edit; "MP2P 264,043 (WinMX)" Thats not the right network.

Asking which is the best is like asking "which is the best car", ask 10 people and get 10 different answers.
Stay away from kazaa generally, you wont find any music really, most are fakes. Same with the movies.
I personally recommend newsgroups. I signed up for one in April and havent looked back. 15.00 a month for high speed servers that are unlimited. And there no RIAA or MPAA presence. And you can find an ASSLOAD of material there, there dozens of giant music, movie, software, and yes porn newsgroups. Simple to use as well.

First off none of that is spyware. Obviously that microsoft program is trying to rid of anything that has to do with unknown or "bad" networks. well all of that is perfectly fine and should not be deleted. I think that microsoft ad thing is in beta... so allow bugs.

The WinMX network is not called MP2P as you pointed out it's called:
WinMX Peer Networking Protocol (WPNP). Read more about WinMX at www.slyck.com/winmx.php
You can't tell how many users are on the network. I read there was about 5 million. Maybe not online all at once tho.
and evilmegaman' it's not my bs it's microsofts.
Also check out some the new stuff WinMX is working on!!
