With all the DVD-R/+R Media out there and the current burn speed of your DVD BURNER being 16X I have yet to see any media either +R or -R that allows you the ability to burn at this speed.
am I behind in times?
are there no manufactuares currently producing this media yet?
are there current restictions or bottlenecks that would not allow for the burning of media at this rate currently?
Any insight on where things are would be great.

I've been burning through a stack of DVD-Rs for a day now, and just got to my stack of DVD+Rs. Though both stacks are rated at 8X, the DVD+Rs are burning at 16X. Nice suprise.
They're Fujifilm 8X DVD+R in case you wanna try 'em out.

If you have a choice between - and +, definately go with + - they play in more dvd players. I believe that + are the faster burning of the 2 formats.

cool thx for all the info
I found the cheapest place to buy a 100PACK of 16x DVD+R is ebay so far.... with shipping 76.00 that was for RITEK RiDATA
Thats a little pricey considering.
I scooped out a 500PACK of 8X -R's for 130bux with free shipping made by OPTO disk and there white inkjet printable... But if -R is the slower format I dunno if its worth it espicially if it is not as compatible with players...
A few more questions:
Has anyone tried any 16x Media yet?
I
f so how long dose it take to burn a full DVD+R?
What brands are currently making the 16x+R I am only seeing RITEK and Verbatim for sale for the most part...
What are the cheapest sources for Blank DVD BLANK media at 16X?
Thanks again,

Another thing I looked at was them dual layer discs Yuckkie man so what there a little bit bigger then the current burnable media but burning at 2.4x dosent exactly interest me in the least nothing like sitting through the burning process can get to be down right annoying.

Of all the off-brands, I've heard that RITEK is the most reliable of the bunch.
I've had bad experiences with off-brand CD-Rs, and that's enough to discourage me from buying any DVD-/+R with a cheap price.
If you watch the sales at local retailers, you can often get a good price for branded media.. Last week Best Buy had 25 packs of Fujifilm DVD+/-Rs for $8.99. I bought 4 packs and now I'm set for awhile.
.. also, dual layer gives you twice the space of a single layer. The only catch is that they're usually much more than twice the price. When they come down in price it will definately be worth waiting through the slower burning process, if for no reason other than perfect 1:1 movie back ups. No more lossy compression. By then dual layer burning will probably be up to 8X anyway.

hmmm Not too shabby but as far as speed I am looking for 16x single layer for a cheaper price then I guess is offered I guess I'll have to either wait it out or buy the massive quantity of 8X's ...
130bux for a 500pack 8X -R's with free shipping is the cheapest I've found so far.
To tell the truth I've never had any issues with any media I've ever boughten other then DataLife CDR's that I bought from sams club when CDR's were quite pricey.
Well thx for the info just as well....
Still wondering how fast the 16x DVD+R's burn ?
And some of the best places to buy them at the cheapest rates in bulk.
any takers?

I have a Pioneer DVR-107D it is a singel layer burner and burns both -r & +r at 8X . my friend has a burner that can burn at 16x and media that can burnat 16x yet every movie he burns plays half way and then mess's up, so if your goin to burn at 16x make sure they work.
ohh and to the guy that said +r works on more players I dunnu about that man -r has been around longer and to my knowlge more player support -r every DVD player I have loads -r faster so......

I thought the same thing too, -r disks are far more compatible than +r disks, (especially with older DVD players and playstation 2's) and there is no speed difference whatsoever.

Cool thanks for the heads up...
I was wondering about possible compatibility issues with 16x burnt DVD's as to weather or not they were ready for the settop enviornment quite yet...
If anyone has a phillips 642 divx player give a 16X burnt DVD +R or -R dosent matter a try with a divx movie burnt on it and let me know your results I am just wondering weather or not it would be wise to pay the extra money in an effort to save time it is obvious it is according to the equipment that the end user has I just so happen to have a phillips 642 divx certified player I am sure there is someone out there who has tested it but... If there is play issues I guess I will have to sacrifice the time I might possibly save and instead spend more time save more money and get more media.
Thanks for the input thus far great forum with great folks always willing to lend a hand in some shape or form.
