Commercially I thought the best song was Jesus Walks by Kanye West followed by American Idiot by Green Day and A Decade Under The Influence by Taking Back Sunday.

wtf is with all the American consumer-whore Idiots liking that song? Aren't they, therefore, furthering the stereotype presented in the song? GOD!

ok, well...best songs of 2004, hmm?

My faves

"Origami" Ani DiFranco
"The Wizard and I" Idina Menzel from Wicked
"1, 2 Step" Ciara
"Jesus Walks" Kanye West...too damn catchy!
"The Way It Is" The Prodigy
"Get Up Get Off" The Prodigy

so on and so forth.

EDIT: Why is this in the techno forum? If it's best TECHNO song of the year, why not indicate it? My last two apply to that topic, if it were to exist.

What song are you talking about?

And Goodies was much better than 1, 2 Step, although Step is pretty damn catchy.

American Idiot was the song I was bashing. Goodies was NOT better than 1, 2 Step, cuz it sounded EXACTLY like Freek-a-Leek and Yeah!...I'm not one for identical bullshit.

this is my 1987th post...my birthyear. yay.

I don't know if all of you agree with me, but in my opinion these are the greatest songs of the year.

rock song = american idiot - green day
hiphop/rap = yeah - usher ft. lil jon and ludacris & go dj - mannie fresh
r&b = confessions & burn - usher
holiday song = santa goes to the ghetto first - snoop dogg & carol of the bells - trans siberian orchestra ft. metallica

I don't agree, they may have been the most popular...but...ugh... and carol of the bells is NOT this year, nor is it called carol of the bells. It is called Christmas Eve(Sarajevo 12/24) and was published October 15, 1996. also, this is in the techno forum...

Fav song of 2004 would have to be DJ Tiesto - Adiago for strings.

And others that came close
DJ Tatana - Neon lights (The whole album was excellent)
Rank 1 - Black snow
Rank 1 - The citrus juicer
ATB - IntenCity
Push's New album was also excellent.
Faithless - Killer's lullaby
Bonkers XIII (Whole album was great)

And because spamming is so fun, the music I made kicked ass too.

Also, why is mainstream american rock mentioned in the techno forum? Some people on the board must not know what techno is.

Im not really sure at the start of 2004 my mp3 collection was maybe 400MB, at the end it is 16GB so I have discovered a lot of good songs this year. I dont think I could pick just one

my favorites were

...
Marco v - auto manual
...

that is good one, but from marco v, the craziest track is 'simulated' I think.
