I have a divx movie file that is 714,496 KB. Is this intended for a 700MB CD-R or an 800MB one? Considering 714MB > 700MB I think the answer is 800MB, but I'm not sure...

It is intended for a 700mb cdr. You will probably be able to fit the divx if you overburn the disc.

Just to be safe, put it on 800mb -> what i would do. 800mb disks are rare though.

What you need is a software program like nero that supports overburn then you need a cd writer that also supports it, Liteon and Plextor are examples.......theres others maybe someone can post a link of the page that lists cdburners that support it.......

You can get a Liteon OEM from newegg for cheap$ If your burner does not support overburn you can ruin it so be careful!

Yes there are companies that make 800mb cds strictly an internet purchase, YOU DO NOT NEED THEM, I have heard that people often encounter track reading errors using them............I have never used any so I wouldnt know.

Actual file size may be less, it could be just header information on top of the real file. In this case, it will fit 700mb CD just fine!

Thanks for all your suggestions! I have Nero, so I'll try it with a 700MB and see if it fits.

Familiar name indeed bwr. But yeh, you can most likely fit the movie on a regular 80 min (700mb) CDR.

use easy video splitter and cut the intro and the credits off and you may get just enough to save 14 megs.

it'll fit, just burn it as your normaly would, sectors are calculated differently on CD and HDD. a 714 meg video file will fit to cd just fine. try it.
