EXEEM

Short description:
A new Bit Torrent application being developed by the folks at SuprNova.org. The name is Exeem and it’s supposedly a “decentralized BitTorrent network that basically makes everyone a Tracker. Individuals will share Torrents, and seed shared files to the network.

Plus:
+ Greate brand
+ Everyone a tracker is basically good
+ search for torrents
+ betatesting already

Minus:
- Everyone a tracker means a p2p network, then better use sharezaa.
- no secure seeding
- everyone a tracker is dager for everyone
- no encryption
- no decentral hosting of torrents (beta is like napster central server torrent hosting)
- No swarming from p2p for torrents
- No partial filesharing if tracker is down for the new tracker (has no info)
- needs more development
- architecture may chance the torrent protocol and devide the community (in time of crisis not good)

Webboards:
# needs Magnet link standard to link torrents.

ANTzureus

Short description:
The goal of the project is a hybrid swarming of azureus-bittorrent and jetiants-torrents. Users then can swarm from both networks and releasers can seed the media safe in ants.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/antsp2p/
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1189812&forum_id=377614

Minus:
- has to be coded, still no beta testing
- (one or more) central tracker needed
- plugin or core hybridization needed
- eclipse.org needed for gui integration

Plus:
+ real decentral search and hosting for torrents
+ Swarming from p2p network if tracker is down
+ safe seeding over ants
+ encryption of ants-torrents packets.
+ azureus great brand

Webboards:
# needs ed2k link standard to link torrents.

SHAREAZA
Already developed, but not that great BT-Client, but has all the features mentioned above, except safe seeding and encryption.

Integrating ANTS into Azureus is not the best idea from a technical point of view, as we perhaps should know by now. By using ANTS to route messages and transfers you are relying on the speed of the ANTS network, and therefore sacrificing the speeds of bittorrent. If you use ANTS for queries and use the BT protocol for file transfers etc, then you may as well search and download .torrents on ed2k or any other p2p network,
A more sensible idea would be to create a separate p2p network that is dedicated entirely to message and transfer routing, a la TOR (although they do not want BT traffic using their network), but this network would probably have to be designed from scratch because its sole purpose would be to route BT requests and BT traffic.
But think about that sentence; if you are going to create a dedicated routing network you are STILL going to sacrifice the speed of the BT protocol (perhaps its greatest attraction for users), therefore why not just create a new network?
I also do not necessarily see the need for triple double mega AES or tunneling necessarily, why not strip the idea down to its bones and create a new network that simply runs on node IDs which will not allow requests for IP addresses (I am aware that this is a feature in eg. ants, as well as its encryption etc...).
The need is for a network that provides SOME MEASURE of security, whilst not sacrificing the speed; Rome was not built in a day, and thus networks like ANTS shove lots of (admittedly attractive) security features in without maintaining the speed that users would wish. When we all have 10 meg connections at home, then all that becomes considerably more viable, but a measure of anonymity/security can be implemented in a more simplistic fashion without decreasing efficiency too much.

I don't think I've ever posted here before, but because I do read the boards a lot I naturally bore of these posts blindly proclaiming things that are largely wishful thinking. Setting up a project on sourceforge when you are not a developer does not make you cool, it makes you annoying. As do your consistent posts that never contain any new information, or contain fanciful information, or are just silly when you think about them. Because I doubt you've ever read/understood the techdocs of the projects you are discussing (otherwise you would not be so excited about this idea), I also doubt you'll fully read and understand this post, before posting again. Of course, if you did, that would be nice.

Just a small minus that isnt it, the fact it doesnt exist.

nothing beats comparing 2 products one has never seen/don't exist and then putting down "advantages" as one's twisted, idiotic mind imagines them
