can't connect winmx

Can anyone help me? I installed WinMX 3.3 and it was working fine. I downloaded the Opera browser and since then I can not get WinMX to connect. I'm not sure if Opera had any affect but since then I have deleted Opera. Also everytime I try to Scan disk or Defragment my disk I get a warning that something keeps writing to my disk. Could there be a program that is on my sysytem that is doing this that is preventing WinMX from connecting?

When you have open programs, they cause problems with scandisk. So just let the program run by itself. Just leave your computer alone when you are running it.
