Ok, ok...here we go: Slow bt speeds

OK. I've tried everything I can think of amd that I could find listed. I've changed my ports to 16881-16999, I've got them open in ZAPro and on my router. I even tried disabling ZA and all that did was somehow get SearchBar.exe installed on my computer. Hmmmm. I'm using Fast Torrent (Ironic, huh?) on a cable connection, and all i get are <20 KB\s speeds.

Any more ideas?

Drop the 1 in front of those ports: 6881-6999

I originally had them configure that way. A post said to try putting the 1 in front of them, as some ISP's limit traffic on the 6881-6999 range. There was a slight increase in speed after I made the change. I'm out of ideas. have other people had better luck with fast torrent? is it a good client?

also, is there any way to speed up or disable the "checking" process in Fast Torrent? One of my downloads is 7 GB, and it takes a while to check.....what exactly is it checking, anyway?

it's hashing your already-downloaded stuff so it knows what you need to download.

So that's what it's doing..... thanks.

Ok...now I'm using Azureus. It turns out Fast Torrent was just a hack of Azureus. Now, I've opened up IP range 16881-16999 on both router and firewall, forwarded ports 16881-16882 to my computer on the LAN, and told azureus to listen on port 16881, but when I run the test, I still get "NAT error" and slow downloads. Am I forgeting something? Is there something else I need to do for this to work on a LAN?

Well, nevermind. It now says "Ok!" when I test port 16881, I'll see if my speeds improve. weird...I didn't change anything.....
