Has anybody watched the download box- files appear to start and then immediatly go back to the queued box below - what is going on? Is it because the file owner already has too many files already downloading? or what?
btw The latest versions are MUCH better - and more stable.
regards

Thanks - it looks godd! I didn't see any mention of anonymity on the write up - but presumably because you recommend it it must be - yes?
Anyone have a useful reply to the original question?

I deleted a post earlier in this thread where I made a comment that wasn't very helpful..suggesting he try a different client. That is what he was replying to or are you confused over his original question?

What is going on in the download box when files move up for download and then immediately down into the queued box again - is this because the uploader alreay has his quota of uploads going or some other facet of ANts?

Gwren is making a new download tab, where the files are all in one box. so no download and interupted box anymore. Then there will be instead a row with filestatus ,
We then have the folowing status terms:
- searching
- active
- pending (Interrupted)
- paused
then it will be much easier to see.
The question WHY downloads get interupted, means there are less spurces, or the node has no free upload bandwithd by 10 slots used for uploads..
we need more users in ants !
and a btter gui with pending downloads isntead of interrupted!
this temr expells every user and causes only threads at zeropaid.

Thanks ABC - the new ideas sound better - and the number of peers does seem to be growing slowly.
The other thing I have noticed is that many uploads seem to get 'stuck' at "Getting hash map". Is that also waiting for the sender's queue to reduce enough?

Thanks ABC I have logged some requests and problems there - it is a useful site. Initially i was hoping (in a lazy kind of way) that someone who had read the code understood what was going on during the periods when it seems to freeze at 'Getting hash map'. For instance is getting a hash map a one off retrieve or is it needed every time a dl restarts?
I have watched the dls and they do restart from time to time - but I think that the ratios are *very* dependant on the current neighbours (some almost freeze the system). By disconnecting the slowest (not really in the spirit of ANts - but it makes a good experiment) an occasional improvement can be seen.
I also think that the number of peers is imprtant - too many and it is all proxying - too few and ones share of data is too small.
