Well my friend brought his computer to my house for me to reformat it. The computer he brought over was a Dell Dimension 2400... well I said shure i'll do it and took out my disc that I use to re format my computer which is Windows XP Professional with SP2 it has worked perfect when i reformat my computer (My cpu is not a Dell I built my cpu.)... well everything went well on his computer except one problem his view settings wont change... they are stuck on low 8 bit and I cannot adjust them, and I cannot click on properties in the monitor section to update/install the driver. for example I have included a picture of my monitor section, his looks the same but has no information and im a not able to click on properties to update the driver. Please help me solve this problem.

Most big name PC's rely on proprietary drivers and sometimes hardware to
"encourage you" to only come to them for repairs.
The video card might run on proprietary Dell video drivers that your copy of Xp cannot install or make work.
Best advice I can think of is ask your friend for the system restore disk that came with his system at purchase.
If not go straight to dell at
Thier support page (http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs) enter the model of the computer in question
and get the drivers you need for that system.
Hope this helps

I have downloaded the drivers but I cannot install the monitor driver, because i cannot access the properties section. The audio driver worked great.

yes, I have admin access that is default, I have never had this problem either and i have reformatted computers many times. Do you think there was an error and I should re-format again?

Very odd, but i would make sure that i had any, and all disks that came with his/her pc, as sometimes you need them to do a reinstall.
