The expansion pack for Doom III developed by Nerve Software is said to have 11 new levels, 4 new monsters and three new weapons.
Developed by Nerve Software, the new expansion is set to have 11 levels, four new monsters, three new weapons (including the classic Doom II weapon the double barrel shotgun and a new Half-Life 2 Gravity Gun type of device called the Grabber) and the return of the enviromental suit from previous Doom games that allows you to go through contaminated areas unharmed for a brief period of time.

The game will also contain four new multiplayer maps with support for up to eight players this time.

id SoftwareTM and Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) will unleash an all-new assault on humanity with DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil, the official expansion pack to the fastest selling PC first- person action game ever in the U.S., according to NPD Techworld. Co-developed by Nerve Software and id Software, DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil continues the terrifying and intense action of the already classic DOOM 3, which Maxim and Computer Gaming World awarded "five out of five stars" and the Associated Press called "one of the scariest games ever made." Through the discovery of a timeless and evil artifact you now hold the powers of Hell in your hands, and the demons have come to hunt you down and take it back. Following the events of DOOM 3 and featuring new locations, characters and weapons, including the return of the double-barreled shotgun, DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil expands the terrifying action that fans and critics have been raving about. The title will require the full retail version of DOOM 3, and has not yet been rated by the ESRB.

"DOOM 3 defines first-person cinematic action, and the expansion pack continues right where we left off - with a terrifying atmosphere, a new story and one of the most classic weapons ever, the double-barreled shotgun," states Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. "Now that fans have survived the horrors and edge of your seat action of the original, DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil delivers players deeper into the heart of the UAC to uncover new secrets and technology used to destroy the demon force that's Hell-bent on destroying you."

Building on the most advanced game engine ever created, DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil continues the frightening and gripping single player experience of the blockbuster original. The title also features even more multiplayer action with support for up to eight players in all new maps.

Game is due out in Late 2005

I think this expansion pack was made by different people from the people who made Doom3, so hopefully the levels will be interesting.

The game was good graphics when i played @ my cousins (too slow for my pc), but for me it's just another game. I easily get bored, and dead.

I dont think Doom 3 can even hold a candle to Half-Life 2.

And what kind of crap is that, a "grabber", why not just call it a gravity gun and spraypaint the HL2 logo over.

Frankly the engine sucks, lags horrible compared to HL2 which has stunning graphics and great FPS.

The environment is a bunch of small hallways that are horrible and offer the player no real room to play the way they want compared to HL2 which has huge maps and areas to manuver.

I feel sorry for any hardcore Doom fan that actually is going to shell out money for this garbage.

I might go and buy Doom 3...considering Half-Life 2 only kept me entertained for 14 hours. Not only that, I was very disappointed with Half-Life 2. I feel it was a waste of 50 bucks...

You dont know what a good game is then, if you didn't really like Half Life 2, i' haven't even finished Half Life 2 and think its the best game made yet! I got bored of Doom 3.

I know what a good game is. Wolfenstien 3d, Doom, Doom 2, Duke Nukem, Duke Nukem 3d, Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Metal Gear (from Nintendo to PS2), Metal Slug 1, 2, X, 3, 4, 5...List goes on.

Half-Life 2, to me, sacrificed gameplay for graphics. I got over how "real" everything looked in 30 seconds, and started playing the game. I got bored on supposedly two of the great parts of the game, the boat and the buggy. I wanted those chapters to end quick.

I don't care how the graphics are, I want a game that has replay value. All the games mentioned above, have replay value...Half-Life 2, ehh...Maybe in a year I'll try it again.

Doom III was creepy at first, then dark and creepy, then just dark, then I can't see what the F I'm shooting at in the dark, then were the F am I going in the dark, to holding my trusted flashlight to see what's killing me in the dark, to putting the game in my dark attic were I probably will never play it again.

Yeah, I hope the developers of the new expansion add some fun factor. I had huge expectations for Doom 3... and I'm not the kind of gamer that follows hype with a hard on.
I was in college when Doom was released, and have some fond memories of my long Doomin' hours. Doom 3 just didn't deliver on the fun factor for me. It's an alright game, but to be honest I have more fun playing Doom 2 on my Game Boy Advance.

... and though I respect just about anyone's opinion on just about anything, I truly think anyone who doesn't see Half Life 2 as a flawless FPS should seriously reevaluate their gaming value system. The gameplay is there. If you can't see it you need to go back to your cave and play Pong or River Raid.

Not that River Raid doesn't kick ass.... because it totally does.

Pong, my older brother worked a summer to buy pong, probably about the time I was born. According to him it was everything he wanted it to be and more. I still can't imagine buying a system that plays only one game, even if it is pong.

I hate when you can't hold the flashlight with a weapon.
