No because only imbeciles use illegal operating systems. But only a complete moron would post that they use a illegal operating system on a web forum for all to see.

The WinXP Corp edition has the activation disabled, so it's safe. Not many people will be caught.

I'm sure I'll get a lot of crap for saying this, but Win XP is good enough that you should buy it... there's nothing wrong with actually buying a GOOD program

How have you seen this? I have been here for a while and I haven't... I think most of the copies people have here are legal... I for one have a legal copy of XP Pro.

DiddlySquat:
It appears you got flamed eh. Don't feel too bad. It happens I know quite a few people who have done the same as you. They just didn't broadcast it.
I also know several who downloaded it before buying to see if it was a piece of crap like ME so they didn't get burnt again.
DO NOT install service pack 1 if you have a illegal copy of WinXP pro!!!
(Somehow I don't like the way that looks---A piece of crap like ME lol)

There's no more reason to own a legal copy of Win Xp than there is to own a legal copy of any thing else.
How do you think people will get caught anyway?

There is a reason to own a legal copy over other things, because your parents will find out if you're using XP if they even glance at the computer ;)

that only makes a difference if your parents can tell the difference--xp and 98 and me are all pretty much similar looking, especially to the untrained eye--you could always say you customized it, or got a copy from school etc...
my parents can't even turn a computer on

some parents are pretty ignorant when it comes to computers... my friend had his parents believe that he was typing the boot process in dos!!
I still stand by owning a legal copy, I don't know why you would want an illegal copy of something as big as an OS.

Not my father! I am just glad he doesn't check the computer for pirated software, because he doesn't use it (i am always on it, so he doesn't get a chance). He uses his laptop, for which I am grateful.

ashep612 is right. why would u want a pirated piece of software that is as expensive and big as an OS. secondly microsoft has really good anti pirate features that will screw u over if u do something wrong. i for one have a LEGAL copy that came with my laptop

Well said...however, the product activation shit distresses me still, and honestly, there's nothing I've seen that really makes me want to move up from 98SE to 2000, ME, or XP. Windows is Windows is Windows is Windows is Windows to me (unless you have 3.x, in which case you are a shmuck).

i own a legal copy of xp pro through the college and just FYI there is a fix out there on the 'net somewhere, looks for a real key on ur system and shows you how to replace the all to popular key that has been spread around
