PHILADELPHIA - Marilyn Manson: shock rocker. Self-proclaimed "Antichrist Superstar." Philosophy professor?

With an MTV film crew in tow, Manson surprised students in a Temple University Art and Society class Monday with an hourlong guest lecture.

He opened the class with a question: Could he share a bottle of red absinthe with the students?

I thoght he was dead... or maybe it was wishful thinking. Either way he still sucks. The only thing that was ever shocking about him, was that people actually paid money to listen to his, umm, "music".

I agree with kleenr in that it would be hard to buy music from that artist for how it sounds, but if you really listen to some of his lyrics, they are very deep, some of the best stuff you will ever hear if you are a philosophical person.

Just a MTV ratings stunt.

Now if he didnt WITHOUT the film crew, that would have been amazing.

Il say one thing about the man, he did know what he was talking about when he was interviewed by micheal moore in bolwing for columbine. He hit it on the nail

Which is on par with what he said in this story. Another great quote from marlyn masson "I'm not someone who doesn't respect religion, but I don't care for the way religion is used to manipulate people," the 35-year-old singer said. "We create our own gods. We create our own devils." his music may suck but he is quite smart..

Oh I'm sure he spent a week or more talking to his agent coming up with that one.

I agree there mountain_rage. In addition to respecting the guy, I happen to enjoy his music. I find this article a bit humorous for him but I don't think we need to worry about him getting nominated for the Nobel prize anytime soon.

LOD & Moutain Rage,

I second your opinon marilyn manson's apperance is a bit odd but and he view radical to many, but I like the guys tunes full of energy and for the record I have heard a couple of live interviews were he actually shocked me with his knowladge. He is difinately a strange charechter but thats the gimmick he provides to entertain you as he states very frequently in his lyrics.

Manson fan for sure I used to stereo type him for his appearance but now I listen and look to things with an open mind. Good music is many times created by crative minds and drug addicted folks kinda ironic really... Look at Kiss, Alice Cooper, and Ozzy from back in the day they paved the path for the metal artists to take it to another level. I have shifted more attention to metal music then any other music I ever once considered the best in the past few years metal has really hit some milestones and had some dam good bands. Marilyn Manson is just one of the many.

Manson has talent. I didnt care for him until my friends showed me his new stuff in 2003.

But in the end, the music channels for radio/video will continue to concentrate on the latest release by Justin timberlake/destinys child/latest pap artist.

True talent never gets to see the day of light in radio. Radio has been silenced eternally in my home.

Shikabush,

There are many true talents which see the radio but there are many more that do not get to see the radio so I suppose if you look at it as an estimate I would have to agree with you.

Its unfortunate but really thats kinda one of the things that filesharing did provide for folks the ability to check out bands unheard of without spending a dime. It gets to be pretty expensive and annoying beta testing all the unheard of bands and such. Its a shame they wanna do away with basically the best forum of advertisement via word of mouth really free speech over the internet is in part the ability to share a bands material because you think they are underachivers. I many times shared only bands which I thought deserved more credit.. In a way sharing a file is speaking without saying a word and it also provides free advertisement as well...

Hey but bottom line is that filesharing will just become annoymous and everyones back to square one the RIAA and MPAA will have some lame encrypted ID to submit to the courts instead which will probably never hold water then they will wine and wine till they get there way and try to shut down the anonymous P2P ventures while more and more pop up it will be an ongoing battle.

I really wish for kicks someone would place in there EULA that no government acency, business, or employee of a government agency, or buisness associated with the law is allowed to use this program without buying a liscence for 1billon dollars. It is for home use for people not affiliated with spy, law, or affirmative action agencies only. Otherwise it is 1billon dollars a liscence.

I bet that would really tickle there fancy :P~

No, you dont understand at all. I love the european electronica scene.I have introduced so many people to that type of music. That type of music is growing here.

Does it get airtime/TV time here? No.

The industry here in north america just wants to keep pumping out that recycled pop shit. They dont care about people like me who have different tastes. They are just concentrating on one group of people, and it is fucking sad. The radio in Saskatchewan has been monopolized by Ralwco. Since Ralwco has taken over, the metal hour and Chris sheppard have been eliminated from the playlist. You hear nothing but the same pop drivel over and over again.

I urge everyone on this board to boycott the radio to make a stand. If these corporations want to make our radio communist, turn off the radio and listen to what you want to hear thru P2P to make a stand.

One of the Ralwco DJs that has critisized my musical tastes is now going to lose his job soon. Go figure.

My friend got the new portable XM Satellite radio. It's awesome... and by awesome I mean AWESOME.
If you hear something you like you just hit the record button, up to 5 hours.

.. I like one Manson track.. from their first album.. it's called "Lunchbox". It's about fighting on the playground when you're a little kid.

I agree that was pretty powerful what he said
