I recommend AVG PRO. You can get AVG free and it will protect you the same but i recomment supporting good companies who offer great products free. The only difference between pro and free is pro will let you define scan options more , free will only scan the whole system and that's it.

I say AVG Free. Why? It's free and it works.

If it's free I like it. avast home!, AVG, and AntiVir are all in that category. I like AntiVir the best out of them because you don't have to get a serial number for it (it can do it automatically). The serial numbers for the other two are free, but it's just not as simple for getting them.

NOD32 is tight, Google it, kaspersky is looking nice too, you should check them both out.

it doesnt nessasarily cost you money yearly to keep your anti up to date (i know im stating the obvious, but apparently some people havent realized it) and norton drops a new anti yearly right so if you decide to turn that way (i wouldnt) i know that when you install the correct product intially it comes with atleast a year of updates. have a nice day and spend your $20 on something useful like a subscription to napster or something :gj

I'm using F-Prot right now and the detection is good.
My second pick would be McAfee.
I don't recommend Norton. If used incorrectly it can mess up your system. (E.g. slow performance)

NOD32
Use: http://olivers624.online.fr/telechargementenglish.htm
And: http://www.nod32.com/download/trial.htm
NOTE, this is not a warez link in my opinion. If anyone disagrees, PM me and I'll change it, or change it yourself if you're a mod.

I have used many different antiviruses and would have to say that AVG and NOD 32 are the best. Norton slows up your system too much, stay away from that. AVG is the easiest to install and the free version is the best.

If your buying it nod32 all the way its better then norton. If you want a free alternative either avast or avg.

*cough* M_R, there may be a way to extend the nod32 trial by fiddling with the windows clock. Who knows, I haven't tried it.

from my experience.. non anti virus is that good.. The virus spread so quick in that you are always a step behind. Buy a good anti add crap ware. Instal a good firewall.. and dont let stupid ppl to download spam mail in your PC.

i would try to get norton antivirus pro corporate edition off of a p2p network (edonkey or *bitorrent*-best bet-) and there you go... All you have to do is update the virus definitions... Also a good thing to use for your computer, if you are a big filesharer like me, use peerguardian (version 2.0 is almost out) http://www.methlabs.org/

Norton. If you're worried about resources, get more memory. You can always use it.
