Don't mention the filename, but give the file's extension name so someone can help!

File's extension names are AVI, MPG, etc.!

BTW, you'll also get a CD/DVD burning software like Nero to burn movies to disks.

a torrent file is what you use to get bittorent to download the file for you. If all you have is the torrent file then you dont have the movie whatever its extention may be. get cracking on that!

[edit] oh wait you said you could watch it... im confused...

[edit 2] so what your looking at is the torrent file. You need to go find the movie file.

OK, go download this utility then tell us what kind of movies they are, divx, xvid or mpg, etc.

which really means its an avi file, in which case you need to 'transcode' (to transform it into another format) that is DVD compatable. You will need to transcode to mpeg2, but the specifications for dvds are fairly strict - Im sure someone here has a link to a guide that can explain the process better than we can.

Just so you know, the process is going to take a LONG time. as in overnight probably.

Is this really worth putting on a DVD? can't you just watch it on your PC? not to discourage you or anything, but it will be a hassle...

What I ended up doing is just running a long S-Video cable to my TV from my video card. Whenever I want to watch a movie or sometimes play a game on the big screen I just detect it as a monitor and sit back on the couch.

.. if you MUST transcode it to DVD format start here and click on the "GUIDES" section: http://www.doom9.org/

Once in a great while I'll transcode one to DVD, say if I wanna bring it to a friend's house to watch, but not too often. I have things I want to to with my box other than render for hours.

Okay. I've thought about this and am just wondering. I'm still new to this and not too smart sometimes but I know once you have collected 15 to 20 movies you're allocating quite a lot of disc space. Now we are expected to share what we have and thats fine with me but eventually something is going to have to be deleted. This leads me to a question please. Once you have dl'ed something and it has finished seeding, are others still dl'ing files after that? Please have patience with me, I'm still trying to sort all this bit torrent stuff out.
