View Full Version : Overse File Sharing Network (80% Complete)
Overse
November 17th, 2004, 10:19 PM
http://overse.com
Currently in development.
New connection methods & extensive security features. I am not going to ellaborate any further.. and yes I know most of you are like wtf is he talking about? In simple terms a highly skilled software engineer, a few friends, and I are about 80% completed with 'Overse' the next generation of file sharing networks. It's going to redefine file sharing, the IRAA won't have a damn thing on us or any of our users. So if you are interested in contributing your skills drop me a line:
[email protected] or if you would like to take part in private beta email me as well.
The first public release of Overse will drop within the next couple months, we don't want to release some crappy version that we have to debug every 20minutes.

I quote myself, because their site wasn't taken down, they were just switching servers... They are looking for beta testers and the first 150 people who sign up at the forums and submit their applications, will become beta testers with these advancements:
-- first 150 users will receive lifetime priv access, next 100 users will receive 3 months priv access.
Here is the application format...

Your name
Your Availability (mon-sun)(and times)
Please explain any relations you may have with current staff members.
Please explain what you wish to gain from being apart of Overse beta.
If you are selected your rank will be changed to 'betaGod'.

No the site is up, i have no problem with any programmer promoting his software/network, just as long as it's not overspammed like some people do...
mp3MaStA88
December 1st, 2004, 06:45 PM
no i don't believe that this software requires a reboot for the user... Although the program is in beta release stage it is, from rumors from the creator, is supposed to be a great program, like soulseek but with many more features and has rare and popular songs on it
"i hit 300 posts" nothing big compared to all of you 1,000 posters and up
hawkburn
December 1st, 2004, 06:48 PM
rare and popular songs? it's beta testing with screened users... unless the developer is sharing those himself.. how would he know?
mp3MaStA88
December 1st, 2004, 07:38 PM
lol thx janett999, The developer and his crew of about 5-7 people have been testing out their network with their files... So actually ya, probably right now we don't know if there will be rare files on this network because it hasen't been publically released yet...
mp3MaStA88
December 1st, 2004, 07:40 PM
:hole we are still looking for many more beta testers... at the moment we have about 7 beta testers not including the creator of this program... Check out the website http://www.overse.com/ to get more information about the program go to the forums where you can sign up and become a beta tester and more http://www.overse.com/forum/
The crew is growing slowely, but we would like a lot more feedback at the forms and any questions that zeropaid.com users might have you just post it up at the forums.

try the link again, maybe you have peerguardian open or something... That has blocked this site for me before.
The reason why the developer is not posting up on this forum is because he is still in the end process of developing the program before beta release. If you want, i can try and get him to post up on here... I will do that anyways, hold on...:hole

a few friends, and I are about 80% completed with 'Overse' the next generation of file sharing networks.
The overse programmer just posted on the overse forums and admitted this is bullshit.
It's a soulseek server that currently has no user interface and is going to be
advert suported in the future.
This is not the next generation of file sharing programs and is nowhere
near to being next generation.
None of the massive list of feature that mp3MoRonMaStA88 posted exist.

Ad supported? No thanks! I, had use ad supported eDonkey client before, it often causes problems on my computer & these days with spammers using trojans with adwares who knows what crapwares will be installed with your ports opened for that p2p program! Unless they will also provide a clean version supported by donations or paid version, with encryption as promised. I'll not use it!!!

No it does not connect to the soulseek sever due to the fact that the developer was threatened with a legal lawsuit over the soulseek protocol. It is now going to connect to its own network.

overse.com seems to be at this IP 66.79.163.20
But my black list says that this range 66.79.0.0 - 66.79.255.255 is all owned by MediaDefender.
Does anyone know the correct range for MediaDefender?

I always find it hilarious when people talk about "encrypting IPs". :D Try sending a letter to your friend with an "encrypted" address and see if the post succeeds delivering it. :)

We all would like to see a great new program that we can d/l our precious files with, but why can't people (developer's) wait until they have something to offer, like a beta, before they go shooting their mouths off about nothing. Another wasted thread about nothing!
I personally CAN wait until it comes out. I don't need to hear about when they achieve 40%, 50%, 60%, 80%...just tell us when it fucking works!...if it ever works...

mp3MaStA88 do not post any more false info about this program. This is a request from the developer, and a warning that intentionally posting false information can lead to banning.

I am just posting up what it says on the overse.com forums, so i am in no way posting false information. If you check it out i am just copying and pasting to inform the filesharing community and on the forums it never said i couldn't do that because it wasn't under private information.

I was sad to ban the guy but from the beginning Justin (Lead Developer & Co-founder) and I have been sketch about him... so finnally when I saw his posts here.. I just decided it would be best if we were not looked up as the new ES5 spamming false information. And no you did not get that completion status from us.

Well I wouldnt mind beta testing your program ...
PM me if thats possible I have no relation to no one here other then filesharing .
Sounds neat but everything sounds good upon induction I would like to test it myslef though I dont feel the urge to beg if you deem it possible I'll try it if not no biggy as well after all I am doing work for free in all reality thats why I dont understand the big deal behind being a beta testers I have tested betas before for other chit basically just testing and reporting doing work free of charge in return you usually get to use a beta program ridden with bugs or not even close to the original version.

Ignoring the comments from the commented on user - what is the latest about this - it seems that the site is barely functional, and the forum lacking content.
Is there a beta and are they looking for testers?
Is it ad supported?
Are there people who have tried it?
Where is the blurb to say how it works?
Best regards
Chris

ChrisFrom what I understand it was a scam or at least nothing to write home about. I wouldn't even bother looking for a beta if there is one.
