Bearshare has always performed much better for me than LimeWire. I'd like to hear from people who get better results from LimeWire. Not fanboys or Vinnie haters.

What version of BS are you using? I don't like spyware! I have limewire pro (free one of course) and love it. It connects to 6 ultrapeers, produces excellent search results and usually has great d/l speeds. I have never tried the beta version of BS because they expire so quickly. I tried a so-called clean version of BS a while ago, only to find it was not so clean. It performed okay, but still not as good as the version of Limewire pro I have been using. So, IMHO...I like Limewire better.

I'm with rack'nrail, limewire overall is also good, both are average because theyre gnutella clients, but hey.

Maybe I'm not connecting to enough ultrapeers with LimeWire. I'll try to hook up with more. Gnutella serves a niche. When older movies aren't on BitTorrent or IRC anymore they're usually good to go on this network. And you can always get a popular song or CD quickly, so it serves it's purpose.

i'm personally a fan of limewire, but i also frequent between linux and windows - so it's nice having an app that runs the same under both OSes (limewire is built in java)
i've never really used bearshare, even the lite-versions, because i never really saw a reason to. i find the interface isn't nearly as nice as limewire, and, at least with the pro version, i get really nice speeds on limewire

I can't say I get better results from LimeWire than from BearShare but I like java, I like the fact it's GPL and I like messing with the source code.
EDIT:
I'm not going to attach a screenshot of myself downloading copyrighted material, - but I could. The same file with LimeWire about the same number of source (+/- 50) and an even faster download - because I'm sitting on a 622Mbit connection.

i cant understand why people are thinking what to choose: shareaza, ares,limewire... bearshare or winmx... isnt a true, that search results in all thoose systems are very poor? emule is for video, softwares and slsk is for music... so, thats all. we need only two wares to find almost everytging.

Nope, it ain't. Plus downloads on Gnutella are usually a lot faster than on eMule - unless you are downloading from Shareaza, which is the only client with those stupid long queues...

Lol Pathtek24, you could be spot on! I prefer Limewire Pro, it's awesome.Bearshare never gave me as good results as Limewire ( pro edition). Also downloading with Limewire is a bit faster, i have always felt than Bearshare.

I use Limewire. However, I do not use it often. Mostly I use BT or eMule. I can find anything I want. The only times I use Limewire is when somebody tells me about a song they recommend or something. Then I just download that song using Limewire because it is faster then eMule.

I have to agree BearShare works a lot better then LimeWire does ...
More results, faster downloads, overall better performance.

IMO limewire is faster, but only finds more popular files. In my p2p travels lol, bearshare finds more rare files, but isn't as fast as limewire. Although, it's not slow at all eather.

You need to try LIMEWIRE PRO! Not basic Limewire!

I don't think regular bearshare or bearshare pro even come close to the results and speed of Limewire Pro. (NOT Limewire basic)

Ok, maybe you can say about download speeds, but results you cant compare even LimeWire Pro to BearShare Lite.
