A description of the Ultramagnetic project:
Ultramagnetic adds encryption technology to AOL Instant Messenger and all the other Messengers like GAIM. This means that no one can spy on you while you're talking about your secret crush, how horrible your new boss is, that embarrassing brush with an STD, your developing political campaign, or your new business strategy. So in fact, you can even use encryption with Yahoo!, MSN, and Jabber too. Ultramagnetic is a concurrent fork of Gaim that adds strong end-to-end encryption using GnuPG’s libgcrypt and anonymous routing using Hacktivismo’s Six/Four protocol. It is licensed under the GNU Public License v2.0.
