Hey everyone, i have got a very wierd situtation with Bittorrent here, I have been useing bittorrent for about 4 months perfectly and then the other day i just got up and died on my. It keeps saying "problem connecting to tracker" and never begings the download.

I know that the torrent server is not busy and that my firewall is not blocking it because i can download bittorrents just fine on all my other computars useing the same exact torrent file. - For example i have two comps in my room, i go to suprnova.org and get a torrent file and try to download it but it won't connect to the tracker SO then i go and try to download it on the other computar and it works just fine.

i cant figure it out have opend all the need ports, uninstalled and reinstalled, have let the bittorrent look for a tracker for 4 hours before and nothing.PLEASE HELP ME I AM GOING INSANE-thx

it could be that the tracker is down or something. it happens.
perhaps you can try to ping the tracker... :)

Trackers do go down. Try a different client, such as azureus, and see if it works any different.

I was experiencing similar problems lately as well and as I posted in another thread, the problems mysteriously resloved themselves!!!

Try downloading it again in couple of hours. I wouldn't be suprised if it worked then!
There seems to be some kind of bug in the new version of azureus...

No filename posting, please.

*puts on an angelic look*

Another possibility is you are trying to download the file from a registered-users-only server. Try getting another torrent for the file in mind, I know there are a lot of them on SuprNova.org

I was thinking they are those Suprnova-leech torrents (The ones you have to get a username/pass + change ports to use).

If they work on the other computer 2 feet away from you, invest in a data switch or KVM box and 3 feet of crossover cable and just transfer the files to your other box.

I have had no problem using Suprnova or any of the other Bit Torrent Sites and everything seems to be working great . I would make these suggestions that should help resolve your problem .

1. Try a different Bit Torrent program than the one you are currently using . I use BitComet as do many others and it has worked great . I tried most other Bit Torrent programs previously and none even come close in my biased opinion .

2. Check the ad-blocking and cookie blocking settings in your internet browser . Very often this can cause a problem . If you are using Firefox , turn off adblock if you have it and allow cookies for suprnova.

3. Check your firewall. Several firewall settings are dsigned to make your web browsing more secure and do the job , but unfortunately also block access to some websites .For sygate pro try turning off (or unchecking ) stealth mode bowsing and anti-ip spoofing . You only need to turn them off while accessing the site and after that re-enable them.

4. Check firewall settings for the program you are using . In Sygate pro, you will need to enable the advanced application settings (just right click the application)which allow the application to act as a server .

5. Check your router if you are using one .In order for the application to have access to your computer, you need to open ports in the router so it is not blocked.

These are all things I have checked at various times and now I have no problem at all accessing Suprnova or downloading torrents from there . Good luck . :fire

The same thing just happened to me as well. Everything with Bittorrent was working fine, and then it seems like nothing works now.

I've been using BitTornado for the past few months without any problems what-so-ever. I recently was downloading various TV episodes overnight (2 nights ago) and when I came back to computer, BT had hung. One reboot later and nothing with BT seems to work now. It doesn't matter which site or thread I use ... nothing seems to happen.

I've tried a variety of programs (BitTornado, BitTorrent, Bit Comet, etc) with no luck on any of them.

I have another computer on the same router hooked up to a cable modem. That computer works fine. I just installed Bit Comet on that and it's downloading like a champ. The only thing I had to do was change the settings for which internal IP I forwarded the ports to (which were set for the old computer).

I can download the .torrent file fine, but when it fires up the torrent program it hangs on trying to connect to the tracker (just sits there an waits).

I am running PeerGuardian and a Windows firewall on both, but the settings haven't changed from what they were 2 days ago when all was well (double checked and nothing seems amiss).
