Movie Industry is starting up the lawsuits today

Maybe I missed it, but it doesn't seem like anyone's talking about the new MPAA lawsuits that are gearing up. I noticed the story over on slashdot: http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/11/04/0227224&tid=97&tid=95&tid=17 I figured this would start eventually, but I was kind of hoping that the RIAA's would fail so miserably, that the other company's wouldn't follow. I wonder if the software industry is next to make a big push forward. Anyone worried about getting the mail today?? :)

Just saw the news on CNN. Its suspected to hit BT users hard. I knew this day was coming as I've preached many times about BTs faults. I stopped sharing any mainstream movies sometime ago I just hope they don't hold my prior record against me. It will be interesting to see if the BT users jump ship as I predicted. I'll be watching suprnovas stats to see if they lose a million or so users.

I'm a little suprised that this hasn't started sooner. The biggest difference I've seen so far is that they're going to go after anyone on BT. With the RIAA lawsuits, for the most part, you had to be sharing tons of stuff to get the dreaded letter....but with BT, they will only see one file at a time. I was thinking about it this morning. The software industry has been dealing with this since back in the old bulliten board days, but I've never seen a large effort to crack down like this. How far off is the BSA from following suit? I haven't seen if the lawsuits are going to be large like the RIAA's, to force people to settle. I've been out of the loop for a while. Has anyone challenged the RIAA lawsuits? I stopped listening to new music a few years back (getting older) so this hasn't been affecting my p2p too much. I knew the day would come, but man, this isn't good.

/I'm not sure if users still post news stories, but how do you?? I've been a lurker for a couple of years...

The best defence is attack.

Zeropaid and other filesharing sites should have a special section / forum to inform users how to avoid being caught!

So I won't say it.

Except for p2p development to move forward and PROTECT future users from law suits users need to support new developments as well as their favourite p2p application.

5Kb/s - 20Kb/s is pretty sad, I have ADSL and using BT I can down usually between 150 KB/s and 170 KB/s.
