help please!! winmx with sattelite on lan

i was using winmx on dialup before & it was okay. i mean in connecting.it takes about 1 mintue to connect but now that i have installed a 2 way sattelite it is taking more than 3 hours to connect.
i am using the newer vrsion 3.53 , i connect to the internet through the d-link LAN .which means i am not using proxy to connect , i just connect directly .
once it is connected it is downloading perfectly but if some one start to download from me , my download speed will drop to less than a 56k modem.
i will appreciate any help

Are you connected trough a router ? then forward the ports to your workstation
winmx uses port
tcp 6699
udp 6257

thank you RACKnRAIL and A-v-S for your respond.i have open the ports in my norton firewall for both tcp 6699 & udp 6257.nothing improved .am n't quite sure what do u mean by "forward the ports to your workstation".
