View Full Version : Will Blubster 2.0 Ever Come Out?

It's been months since Pablo said he was gonna release it, WTF is going on? And don't give me that "be patient, give him time, it's gonna be really good" bullshit, I used to be one of those people, but this is just ridiculous. He really should be done by now, I mean, I'm starting to lose hope in it ever being released at all. I've tried using the 2.0 beta, but it always freezes my computer. I'm currently using K-Lite and WinMX, but they just don't have the speed of Blubster.

It is rediculous, and I have nothing more to say. :bk

Here's my prediction. Blubster 2.0 will come out as soon as the user number stays above 25,999 all day and all night long. Then the gateways can be turned offf and blubster will the the first truly decentralized network and will be almost impossible to shut down. I think pablo is purposely waiting. Why release 2.0 when the network isnt ready?

I think it's ready because it has been a 20,000 user base growth and people expect a new version. It is unfair for the community to have to wait because if he waits too long, Ppl won't use it anymore.

ive kinda given up on it being released. i used to check like every day because i cant connect with the other 2, but i just dont care any more, he is probably gonna release and no one will care because they will have moved to a new program

i wanna know who it was that said all the crap a week ago about blubster being ready in a week.....i seriously am losing faith in blubster......i mean shit 2.0 should have been tested for bugs and already out onthe 26th of jume but insted it was not tested for bugs and was released as a beta that is some shit.....if pablo ever does release 2.0 i wonder how long it is going to take him to release a follow up to it.......oh well there are other file sharing programs out there....no use in getting all pissed off about one not releasing when they said they would

Perhaps if Pablo would stay out of the chat rooms on Blub he would be able to finish the prog.

Pablo is in the chatroom to help and get some bug reports. It helps him a lot. But he doesn't have much time before his program is done for.:tol

My feelings about waiting for Blubster 2.0 is same for waiting WInMX 3.0....patience. Blubster 1.2.3 is a great program the way it is...What's the rush?

We've been waiting for nearly a year.

Blub 1.2.3 takes 4 hours to load all my files. that bites.

i say "who cares?" beta 2 works great, i can get what i need, so who cares if the "real" 2.0 ever arrives?

look at all the updates winmx does, with their 2 new betas a day crap--and are the new versions that aren't beta any better? i think they have been steadily dropping since 2.6--all sorts of great "features" that hardly even work

I can understand everyone being pissed about it being late, but chill out. It's just a piece of software. I want it just as badly as you guys, but I'm not going to waste my time complaining about it being late.

What I really don't understand is when people complain about it being late, say that they're moving on to another program like WinMX and come back a week later asking when Blubster 2.0 is gonna be released. If you've given up on it and moved on, doesn't that mean you don't care about it anymore?

@TOOLkid
Did you read the quote about it being ready in a week? Let me pull it up for you.

From Slyck.com (http://www.slyck.com) (Link (http://www.slyck.com/newssep2002/090102b.html))

"Although no promises can be made, it is hoped that version 2.0 can be released in a week. Remember, a quality product takes time, so the actual release date may be a bit further off."

If you'll notice, I've bolded some very important phrases from that quote. Nobody ever said it would be here in a week.

If 2.0 is as good as it is supposedly going to be, I can wait :)

I think jabba has the right take on this. I also think Pablo is waiting for the user base to stabilize at 26,000 then the new release will come out. That should not be long from now. (HOPEFULLY)

...I saw 27.000 + last night.
So, if thatīs what heīs waitingh for, the time has come.

Whatever time it takes, Iīve been using it for a month (first 1.2.3 and now the 2.0 Beta) and saw the user count go from 16.000 to 27.000... thatīs pretty amazing and gives you a hint of what will happen when the Final version comes out!

He is looking for a p2p file shairng user base to stabilise? HA! Never going to happen. September is tradionally the month for huge growth in p2p applications bue to the return to college etc. The user base is only going to grow not stay static.

It seems he is waing to complete another bundeling deal

No, Pablo's not waiting for the network size to stablilize. If he's waiting on the network at all, he'll be waiting for the user count to remain above 25,999 users at all times. If the network were to start rapidly fluctuating between 1 and 2 million users at any given time, Pablo would be able to start using host caching.

yeah, the user #'s are still a little low at night. But i think in a few weeks, judging by the way the user # has been rising, there should be enough users to keep it above 26,000 at night. Hopefully then 2.0 will be out.
