Ok i'm new here so sorry if this has been asked before!
After using Kazaa-lite for some time, i think it's time for a change. Kazaa is dying a slow and painful death, and is full of fakes, files that never download becuase of lack of users etc.
I'm happily using BT for large downloads like apps and movies, but find it doesn't beat kazaa for easily finding music and porn clips.
What P2P would people recommend as an alternative to Kazaa? I want to be able to easily search for music and porn (amateur stuff not pro studio crap). I want to be able to find rare music and rare porno clips. I want to get decent download speeds. I want software that i can run in the background 24/7, which won't eat up too many resources.
edit: and i'd like to be able to preview files before they finish downloading
Suggestions?

I'd suggest Shareaza would be the thing for you. Its free, has no adware/spyware, and you can also use it to dowload bittorrents with it

yeah, i'd agree, shareaza is a great app. however, if you don't like it, you can also check out ares - just make sure you don't install any of the spyware that comes with it (you can deselect it during the install)

I like Soulseek myself but that is just my opinion.

Ok, so it seems Shareza, Soulseek and Ares are the recommnedations. Of these three, which network has the most users online at a given time? And do all three of these allow you to preview videos while you are downloading?
Cheers

Network-wise, it's not that simple. Ares has around 100,000 users online at any given time, but I don't know about Soulseek. Shareaza, on the other hand, is a totally different matter. If you connect to eDonkey, you're into the millions, but ED2K performance is horrible. If you connect only to Gnutella and Gnutella 2, you'll probably have access to a few hundred thousand users and should get good speeds.

Im having problems with ED2K and its been slow as heck. Ive updated my servers but still I'm only seeing a little more than a million users. Whatsup?
I don't mean to drag this thread off track.:black
Use Winmx, yeah thats the one right for you. :blah

Since you neglected to look at the rest of the forums and the rest of the 18938394948398438943 other web pages about this topic I would say none.

Oh, so you're a mind reader are you? And i thought starting out with an apology would stop fools like you whinging. Look, after spending hours looking at google, searching and posting on other forums, and doing a keyword search here i still hadn't had my specific questions answered.
Anyway, to all the other helpful people out there thanks for the tips. I think it looks like Shareaza, or specifically the gnutella1/2 network is the winner at the moment. Just wonderring if anyone moved from kazaa to sharezaa? Can you find the rare and obscure stuff as easily as you could on kazaa?
Thanks!

Not always. I personally found that kazaa had it's golden age a while back (like a year) and I'm tired of poring over verified pages in order to avoid fakes and viruses. A good alternative is ares (cliche)
Shareza never really worked out for me, but ares is great!! :)

so are you saying that ares has as good a selection of hard to find stuff as kazaa did in "the golden age"?

Kazaa never had a golden age, Morpheus was golden. Piece of shit now, but for one fleeting moment, it was nice.
It could be called a "Golden Moment"

ares does not have a lot of rarer contant. Basicly ares kicks ass for popular stuff, but more ubscure stuff is hard to find, because ares only allows you to search for a sertain amount of time.

alright, i'm gonna end this thread here right now - just start trying different clients out. i think the suggests here are pretty good starting blocks (including my shareaza suggestion :P), but just try as many as you can - some of my favorite clients today and ones that i would never have thought about using a few years ago - just start trying them all, and find which ones are easiest for you and get you the content you want.
in the end, no p2p client is perfect - if one was, there wouldn't be a need for all these different ones, because everyone would just be using the perfect one. but, chances are there's one that's perfect for you

Well i've just done a clean install of XP, and i really want to avoid installing and unistalling lots of apps, coz after a while i'll have to do a re-install again, and it takes so long to set everything up again i REALLY don't want to go there for a while. So that's why i was asking for help narrowing it down. I'm sure people have tried them all so i wanted to see which ones most matched my criteria. Sounds like Sharezaa is a good starting point for me, so thanks for the tips!

Bring back AudioGalaxy! But as for a noob, i'd also recommend Shareaza or even emule.

Any comment on Limewire?
I was previously a kazaa lite user but found it dying in terms of users. Found Limewire to be way better and there is no spyware as far as I can tell.

Limewire pro is good, even the free version. Although its a java based client it is pretty good. It has a good download speed. *note i havent use it in awhile but I can tell you that its a good choice if I were you * please stay away from the fasttrack network its evil

for rare music id definitely go with soulseek and/or dc. you can pretty much find anything on dc if you search correctly
