CJ, people do it all the time in public hubs. In fact, I don't think I know a single operator of the public hubs Ive been in.

I would check out your hub, but Ive pretty much abandoned DC for now. Nothing wrong with it, I just havnt found it neccessary as of late.

You use dc++ for fast,peace and quiet,rich share.you find the everything, mp3,proggram,divx,video,game etc. in our hubs...

u know it doesnt make sense to just have someone from out of the blue make a post for others to join them on a hub that others dont know them at all.
i would join, but i sort of started going back to a different hub right now, but then i just leave because i miss the old people on the hub.

its cool u wanna make a hub and meet people and i might join u up on that offer when i get a chance but i love bittorent lol.

In my opinion, a newbee (such as myself) coming in to post some hub address is the height of either arrogance or lack of care for its members. No public hub is anything other than bait, especially on a open forum. This is sort of like spamming also. Can't be good for anyone.

im sick of kazaa lite and win mx both of which use to be tip top but now are full of fakes and queues, but they have this hokey rule in some hubs that you must have 3gb of stuff otherwise they throw you out, which has happen to me often i cant get 3gb of stuff because i have dial-up. if i can find a good hub i might occasionally use the others but i will use now dc and other non-crap things like irc,bitcomet etc so i can see that a hub being advertised is bad news can be bad news because it could like the other full of these dickhead from record companies who wreck p2p things anyway the smart would of being is to say "hi im blabla ive started a hub e-mail me for more details at ........"

You need hub software - google it. One that is basic and decent is ptokax.

You can protect yourself by making it private and requiring password entry - then only invite your trusted friends.

yah I know, but it's like cut to th chase, use OINk and get everything to your hearts content....DCs are more personable though.............

p2p is too easy no i used to like searching and asking for my file like with direct connect or with gnotella. i even used a client called oasis to get files. now its within a click of a button.

@watashi.....Mabye you are just someone who is starting a DC hub and wants people to join.

But you have to understand that the reason people here are so careful, is because they do not know you. What you have asked is very unusual......most DC hub operators do not go on filesharing forums like ZP or slyck and ask for members to join up....most have the members come to them. The people here do not know if you are an honest person or an FBI operator looking for a sting. Because this is only your first post and asking them to join a hub, when they have no idea who you are.

I agree with an earlier post....if you are really wanting to have people come to your hub, then you may have wanted to stick around and let people get to know you first. As it is, they have no idea who you are, so you cannot blame them for being cautious.

It's reasonable for you to be afraid that is some kind of trap since noone knows me. I would like to give my apologies to all of you for my behavior. The only sure thing is that i am not an FBI agent since i am from Greece and i am a masters student in biochemistry. If i was an FBI agent i wouldn't advertise a hub with this kind of music that has been erased from the map for 20 years but a hub with new movies, games and stuff like that.

Anyway i am sorry for any incovinience i caused.

No offense taken, hang around and let people get to know you. Once they find out you are on the level, you may be suprised to find that you can make a lot of friends here. Then who knows? You may just find that hub of yours getting what you wanted in the first place. A bunch of people on it.

Well I can understand users spamming for users, but I rather not do it myself I just add Info about it in my sig and if a user wants to visit it they are more than welcome but I will ask anyone know of any good large networks on dc++? I have been looking for a while and before you say it yes I am new to this forum but not to dc++ or dc++'s forums
