Hey Everyone,

Check this one out. As of yesterday my wireless hub and all the computers connected worked fine. Last night I started up some bit torrent downloads with Azureus. They were still downloading when I got back from class at 4. Hit around 5 my wireless hub ceased to function correctly. It seemed to be connecting and disconnecting rather quickly, allowing for packets to be sent and not recieved. I unpluged the router from the ethernet jack and connected my computer directly to it. The computer worked fine. I plugged the wireless hub back in and it was not working again. It also stated I had "connected and there was internet." I had 100% signal. I am pretty sure this has nothing to do with firewalls, sp2, setup wizard, etc. Most of the setup was done correctly due to the longevity of the network. I feel the problem was with the bit torrent downloads. I feel like the ISP is some how punishing me for P2P sharing. If anyone can help, I would be grateful.

Thanks,
Marec

Bittorrent can eat up a lot of bandwidth, and makes my pisspoor internet connection slow down a great deal. That might be all it is. Azureus also uses uPnP and if your router is not compatible with it, it could be screwing something up.

I tried that. It did not work. This happen to my computer before as well. I had to reformat evertyhing. But how do you fix this on a router and what could be causing it?

Power cycle the wireless access point.

Check if it has lost it's settings.

Try loading the latest firmware on the access point.

Do you have to register the MAC addresses of you devices with your ISP?
It's possible but unlikly that they have disabled your routers MAC because sharing the connection is against their terms and conditions.

turn off router and modem for 15 minutes, shut down computer and turn it back on in 15 minutes and things should work.

hmm
make sure your firewall isnt blocking certain ports either.

Thanks Govern_cannoball

Well I got it working. They did ban my router's MAC address. I have a linksys, so I just cloned it from the setup menu. I want to continue downloading stuff from bittorrent and other p2p sharing clients. Can I keep cloning my MAC address? Or does it only work once?
