I posted this 2 years ago and unfortunatly it still applies.
The problem with WinMX is not leachers or people on 56k modems. Just yesterday I downloaded at least 50 to 60 very rare songs at high bit rates. The average wait time per song was between 20 - 45 minutes. No Big deal right , I'll just type in the next song and move along. However, if I had to wait 30 minutes behind a dozen people, why is that when the downloaded song is completed NO ONE downloads that song from me to decrease the load. I have anywhere from 400 to 600 rare songs in my folder and rarely does more then one or two person download from me. I have 384KB upload and six slots open and I can guaranty if I were to try to download one of my already shared files I would be in line behind at least 10 people. This is an algorithm problem or a search problem NOT a network or leacher problem.
