Wait for the Xbox to hit $99, and buy that.

Because if your computer is halfway decent, you can use PCSX2 to play PS2 games on your PC (PCSX2 0.7, out soon, will play even more games, judging by the kick-ass screenshots on their homepage... www.pcsx2.net ).

On the other hand, CXBX (Xbox Emulator) only play's Turok.

Did you look at the FPS on those screenies? the highest I saw was 10FPS, and a few were even under 1 frame. That is absolutely unplayable.

With the amount of money one would have to spend to make a system capable of playing those games at decent framerates, they could just buy a ps2 (and an xbox) and save a huge amount of money.

Xbox, requires 11 to 13 solder points. PS2 more then 20 solder wires(wires require each end to be soldered, meaning more then 40 solder points). I vote Xbox for this fact alone.

quite fankly, ive playeed many xbox games. I am very disapointed with xboxs graphics. other then maybe H2 but Im a PS@ guy all the way.
But overall remember, XBOX or PS@ will never match computer games and graphics!!
Computer games are my main choice!

For the Xbox, the X.BIT has Pogo-Pins... 0 soldering. And that new Xecuter is no-solder also, but I'm unsure how much better than the X.BIT it is.

DMS Technologies, makes arguably some of the best modchips around (The best for PS2, and probably second best for the XBox)

0 soldering chips only work well if your lucky and you can stand on head while not bumping anything near your gaming console. Soldering isn't that difficult on the Xbox but the PS2 is F'd in the butt.

I've installed the xbit. It seems fairly secure, as it does use a screw to hold it down.

I'm sure if I was paranoid about it, I could have used some non-conductive epoxy to secure the fucker in place. But I didnt, and have had no problems in the 5 months I've had it installed.

Amateur electronics wizards, on the other hand, could fuck up in a variety of ways.

Keeping the tip of your iron clean?
Clean the surface?
How about trying to use oxidized solder?
Are you soldering on your BIOS or other critical chips? Did you apply a heatsink?
Did you blob on the solder?
Bridge any pins or traces?

Yep, modded xbox's rock. Plus GTA:SA will come out next year for xbox and pc. Halo 2 I believe will eventually land on pc but will never reach ps2. So -- xbox.

Halo 2 and xBox, baby.

GTA:SA will get boring after 2 days into it just like the others.

Though I have both consoles and will probably get both games... I'm just silly like that.

I don't own either one but I would buy X Box. Maybe its because I like computer games more or maybe its because the box seems to have a little more oomph. Anyone playing Star Wars Battlefront?

Wasn't going to buy any more consoles but finally broke down and bought an XBOX last month. Would never buy a PS2 heard too many horror stories and my buddy hates his, and the graphics are horrid. I work for Micron Technologies Inc. and we actually have a Micron Halo League. We hold tournaments every few months and we even get to play at the movie theater here. Last week we had 4 theaters networked playing Halo on the big screens, I tell you what, it's an experience. XBOX also requires no gayass multitap. Mine modded with a 250gb HD, my buddy works at a movie rental place so I've got tons of games on my HD, Free rentals w00t! Oh I also have it skinned and renamed it to Apocalypse. XBOX by far.

Wow, I work for a company that works for the U.S. Air Force and we have a Micron Halo League too. Unfortunatly our league has nothing to do with video games. Part of the don't ask don't tell policy I guess.

I'm not a big fan of consoles, but if I were to support one of them.. I would go with the PS2.

This race is closer than I thought it would be. Xbox has gained alot of followers to be such a young player in the console market. Now if we could get the Japan players to buy an American product the U.S. may rule the video game market(console) for the first time since Atari/Nolen! Go America!

FUCK. The poll is really a compound question. I would pick GTA over Halo, any day. But I would pick XBOX over PS2 any day. See my dilemma?

Agreed, GTA is the better franchise as far as I'm concerned. Not to take away from Halo. But the First person Shooter hasn't come that far since 007 on N64. Given Halos story was rather impressive for the genre but 40 hours shooting virtually similar Aliens get's a little old.

However, a fully modded Xbox with a 250 gig hard drive is not only an impressive gaming machine but an excellent DVR / Divx / DVD player / Print server / whatever else you want it to be system. Far more versatile then the PS2 in my opinion.
