Hi...
I am having those weird problems with all torrent clients.. (Azerus and ABC).

First, i had those weird NAT problems, and successfully corrected them (now, the file i download is green)

whenever i start downloading a file, it starts very fast (20KB/sec), and then... the whole internet connection is lost!! (even internet explorer can't bring any pages, MSN messenger disconnects... everything). :tol

This goes on for about a minute, and then the connection comes back, a lot slower. This keeps on going on again and again. about 5 mins of connection followed by a minute where everything disconnects!
On top of that Azereus, at the moment of disconnection sometimes causes the whole system to crash (windows 2000)

Did this ever happen to anybody else? Any hints? I have a DSL-500T D-Link router

Thanks a lot in advance...

if you're using ZoneAlarm 5, there's an issue with it and p2p programs. try rolling back to version 4.5 or chose another firewall. if ZA is not being used, you may need to update your NIC (network interface card) drivers, they've been known to make things lock up.

hope that helps :gj

You might try reducing the number of simultaneous connections allowed in your bittorrent client.

To go further you will have to isolate things a bit

1. Does this only happen with bittorrent clients?
Does it happen with any other p2p networks
Does anything similar happen if you are downloading multiple files with your browser.

2. Does it only happen through your router?
Have you tried taking your router out of the picture and connecting directly to your modem?

well... I have the problems with torrents too. so, if the system doesn't work properly - it means drop it!

No.. if the system doesn't work properly - FIX it!

I used to have that problem, and since I just limited the number of simulataneos connections to about 50, then my router has had no problems with it. Also pay attention that ZoneAlarm has caused many a problems with BitTorrent, ed2k, and just about anything else besides Internet Explorer.
