I'm running 2.6 and now it's displyaing "Resolving Host Name" and after a few tries and it shows in red "Stopped".
I click "Start" again and it does the same thing again, anyone having problems connecting to WinMx servers?
It was working ok a few days ago, I know there is 3.3 now is that why?

I'm getting the same problem...I actually managed to connect yesterday but it didn't display no search results no matter the search string, I then disconnected and I tried to reconnect but to no avail. I hope they arent forcing ppl to move to 3.3 cause winmx sucks big time from version 3.0 up...

Had the same problem until I found out if you add in the IP address directly under the peer proxy redirect server list, it connects just fine. Add this IP address
66.11.167.171:7729
and delete all the other frontcode:7729 to 7735. Worked for me, hopefully works for you guys.

Maybe if you would switch to the latest version it would work. 2.6 is old and outdated. 3.3 is much much better. I think they just turned off their cache servers to make people update.

Hey Daniel,
Yeah i did update to 3.3v but what choice do we have? Some tunes are better than none.THe problem I have Is that it is always on RED & the songs don't load-too many users wanting the same songs! I hope the people @ WinmX figure out what to do on this.In addition,BRING BACK the AUTO Que function (this dropdown 1 or 10 min....whatever does not work at all. What is the 1-10ms in bytes mean anyway?

-frontcode.com formal returned e-mail,maybe-
The WPNP servers for WinMX 2.6 have been disabled indefinitely.
This disablement is not only in effect in Japan, but globally.
It is true that most connections to the WPNP servers for WinMX 2.6 came from Japanese domains, and we are sorry that there may be many disappointed Japanese users such as yourself.
However, in these tough economic times, it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain a free server for older versions of our software, thus the decision to disable the servers indefinitely.
If it were fiscally viable, we would love to keep the service running.
The WPNP servers for newer versions of WinMX, such as version 3.3 remain active.
Again, we are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause you.@

Sorry, the IP address trick worked for me for about 4 hours then stopped as well. The letter above explains the current situation.:sw

People never seem to give new versions of wnmx a try, all they say is it sucks im staying with this or that version. This is why the network is having trouble moving forward. The user pool is split up into to many versions. EVERYONE move up to the latest version and see how well it works. Its a great network

It's undoubtly a great network but just try to queue a song (or whatever else) in wmx 3.3... it was way much easier to get what you wanted in 2.6 than in versions that came after it; just queue a movie and wait 3 days, when you finally get your chance 3 things can happen : a) get disconnected b) the user goes offline c) "le7's 7Rad3 d00d!!!!". my personal opinion is that the way winmx is designed actually harms the network, it almost invites you to police everybody that's on your queue, and why the hell would you need to know who's queueing? so that you can disconnect him/her?
Networks like the late AG and "still holdin' on to it" Kazaa, thrive(ed) because it is easy to get what you want you just UL and DL no bulls*itting. Funny how I never got nobody asking me to trade while I was DL in kazaa (and Im DLing almost 24x7)....
Leechers! You would claim, well the only way to kill it is to cut them off, is that simple; If i see a user downloading from me with 0 files shared I always give them the benefit of doubt but they wont get away a 2nd time, other than that... just share, download and enjoy.
