My friend and I took some video of us minigolfing last weekend with his Canon PowerShot A75 digital camera. Now we have downloaded to my computer and it seems that nothing can play it except VLC Media Player (Video Lan). Now we want to edit it in Windows Movie Maker but we cant. When I tried to open it in Windows Media Player 10 it says Im missing a codec or something. Winamp cant play it either. Any ideas how I can get this video to work so I can edit it. In case it helps the video has the avi extension.

Do you have Gspot or TMPGEnc? If yes, let us know what it says. What file format? Etc.

Gspot calls it a Motion JPEG including Huffman Tables (mjpeg) and says I have two compatible codecs installed.

Did your camera came with photo software that can import MJPEG format files?

I'm not sure this photo software will work, but it's free so try it.

I fixed it myself. I finally managed to find a free mjpeg codec.
