A few questions..

Hey guys..

I just discovered this forum using a search engine today and wanted to pose a few questions to see if anyone could help..

1. Any idea how to open your own chat room from WinMX? I click on the CHAT tab and see all these rooms, but there appears to be no way of creating a "new room".

2. I download a DivX player to play the DivX movies that I've downloaded, but I'm wondering if there's anyway to burn them to a dvd-rom? I have a dvd burner, but since the movies don't show up on any of my burning software I'm unsure how to go about this.

3. I usually only download movie files and Mp3's but I've been thinking about downloading some of the software and games that seem to be out there. I've only tried this once and it turned out to have a virus. It was the Dreamweaver(flash) program. Since then I haven't attempted it. Any of you have success with any of these types of programs that could give me any hints?

Any input on any of these questions would be greatly appreciated.. thanks in advance...

you need edonkey installed to use the links. Because the links use hashfiles you will get good files and not fakes or hopefully not any viruses. But! any files you download, you must scan as it is always your resposibility if anything weird happens.
But because the links are well shared and so many download the same files you can know before hand it is usually a good file or people would have it removed off the websites.
Read the forums also at those websites, they usually have a place for complaints and problems if you have trouble with a file. So by reading the forum you are forewarned.

I don't know much about creating a chat room, but you must be on a primary connection.

check out www.vcdhelp.com for info on burning dvd movies. Oh, and a useful burner is Nero. You'll need keys to get all the features though.......*wink*

oh and if you're looking for software on WinMX, it helps to do a search and then to do a multisource d/l from as many users as you can. Try the one with the most users, odds are its the cleanest, though you must always scan.

1. The button to [CREATE CHATROOM] appears when you have the proper machine and connection to handle it. Got to have DSL or better, no 56k modems can host a room. And you must be PRIMARY. Firewalled secondary users aren't poised to do it. And your pc MHz must be able to handle. You're not meeting one of these so you can't. Until you do, you won't see the button in the menubar to create a new room.

2. Caitlin is correct on how to burn movies. Go read http://www.vcdhelp.com Step by step hand holding tutorials located there. So Easy.

3. Winmx is fairly good so far, and has fewer viruses and decoys than something like kazaa which is infested. Nearly 6% of total material on kazaa is infected, including mp3's and .avi's too. Yes, I said .mp3's. Yes a song can carry an infection. Using a double extension like Some - Songname.mp3.vbs which kazaa will only show you as .mp3. And so many decoy fake movies on kazaa as well. Winmx has some but not nearly as rife with it. You can try it and Just always be on guard for viruses no matter what. You can get a free antivirus program at http://www.grisoft.com

Regarding edonkey the thing is, the edonkey network only has <200,000 users on it. Winmx has about 1 to 2 million, not even counting opennap.

The web-type links are nice, about edonkey though. if it connects. heh. But regarding finding accurate complete movies, winmx has that feature also, first there's the hash code, and second there are sites for confirming authentic movie files, just like edonkey has.
