Have you downloaded any new codex for your system lately? If so you may have had the wmp streaming setting changed to another unplayable setting.

No problem, I had the same problem when I downloaded the Klite codex pack, about 6 mos ago. Found that one of the streaming codex (Morgan streaming) was the culprit. If it happends again when you have the WMP up, just go to tools>options>file types. Then go down and select all and apply. This should put back all your settings to the WMP. If you have downloaded a BSplayer in a codex pack, you will have to do the same thing or all your videos will play in the BSplayer instead of the WMP. Also when ever you have to use the BSplayer (usualy with a strange OGM file) you will again have to reset the WMP back again, the BSplayer will hijack the video default player back to it instead of the WMP.

I had that problem with the k-lite codec pack, I had picked a "not recommended" setting for mpeg decoding.

Btw, WMP 10 final is out, its pretty nice.

Tried the beta 10 version a few weeks ago and found some small bugs in the full screen viewing of videos ( damn pointer would not disapear when it was suppose to) and switched back to the 9. I'll wait awhile till they get the official 10 before I try it again. Mean while I am happy with the 9 version.
