View Full Version : Regarding Ares/Ares Lite

I recently downloaded Ares Lite, and I have a few things I'm wondering about.

1) Is the Lite version just a stripped down version of the Full version or is it like the K-Lite of Kazaa?

2) I can't see how many users connecting to it, does it have a bigger community than what Fasttrack has now?

3) I'm on dialup so I can't note speed, but is speed decent (on average) for Ares?

Thanks for the time =P

Edit:
I was just trying to download something and I get "leeching paused" even though i have 4 Uploads/10 downloads unlimited upload/unlimited download on.
How's the "leeching paused" prevented? must i be uploading while i'm downloading in order to prevent that? (pretty good system if it is like that)

1 it is just a stripped down version of the regular one. It is nothing like comparing the K-lite/ Kazaa versions.

2 I dont think it is anywhere near as big as fasttrack, but at least it has decent hashing.

3 I find the speed very good on average.

1. Both full and lite have adware, but yiu can opt out in both

2. It's fairly small right now, but there is a decent selection

3. Good speed or no speed

It's not bad. I use it for single songs and older movies. Bittorrent for the rest, and I've been able to get everything I need/want.

Leech Paused is when you have an upload limit of less than 8kbs

Only the limit, you don't need to be uploading tht fast at the moment do you?

According to Slyck, there are some 760,000 on Ares (or at least Warez) - I don't consider that "fairly small right now" Monty.

I hate anti-leech measures too. I hope that you don't need to be uploading at that speed to be downloading. That would destroy the number of completed sources. Everyone would be waiting for everyone to download from them!

just as long as you have your upload limit set to 8 kBps you wont get leech paused
