What Works With Wine?

Hey Everybody,
I was wondering what windows client that don't have linux counterparts worked in wine. If you post a client give version number and wine you are using (WineX, codeweavers, cvs version from winehq). Include linux access if there is a native look alike. Thanks Alot.

To clarify here "Is there a client for linux to get onto this network?" E.X. Gnucleus is for windows but gtk-gnutella is a native linux client for gnutella. Just clarifying myself.

Well according to the wine application database (http://appdb.winehq.org/), you can get winmx to run with wine (http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?appId=288) and Kazaa Lite (http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?appId=747).

E-donkey/overnet already have linux clients (however bad they may be), and I can't see any reason why you'ld want to use anything other than those anyhow.....

Is mandrake Linux best one for newbies, does this WINE also work on it or should i try Red Hat or Lindows, anyone plz help me on this matter as i am thinking of killing/butchring my XP machine, i could just uninstall but i feeling the whole thing is just dirty and want to start fresh.

Any newbie would do fine with Mandrake. Mandrake just released version 9.0 which looks pretty damn good to me. I don't use mandrake, but I used to and I can tell you that it is the perfect free distribution for the windows user who is looking to dab into but knows nothing about Linux (or as RMS says, GNU/Linux). Just make sure you know all about your hardware before trying to install. Mostly what type of video card, sound card, network card, and monitor you have, just in case you have something which isn't popular and isn't automatically supported.

I have ISO's for Mandrake 8.2, would I be able to upgrade to 9.0 from that without doing a fresh install?

Umm, you could update your software yes, and if you get the iso's for 9.0 you could update the whole system, but i don't recommend it, a fresh install is much better.
