Radju Kottoner (98 FM)
Saturday, 14 August, 2004

To commemorate Elvis Presley's 27th Anniversary since his passing, and to celebrate the 8th Anniversary since it's first community broadcast, Radju Kottoner (98 FM) is organizing a 12-hour live radio marathon dedicated to Rock & Roll legend Elvis Presley on Monday 16th August. On this day, 27 years ago, the world was shocked when news spread out like wild fire that Elvis Presley was dead.

The marathon kicks off at 8.00am with presenter Dorian Cassar who will be opening the marathon together with Carmel J. Delia (known as DJ CJ) who holds a world record for the longest radio marathon (56 1/2 hours) ever done dedicated exclusively to Elvis' songs. During this all-request-show, listeners will be asked to phone in their favorite Elvis tunes and all requested songs would be played shortly after.

At noon, Joe Brincat will present a one-hour special programme about Elvis' films. At 1.00pm, the show will be followed by a country music show hosted by DJ CJ. Freddie Avellino will then present a special nostalgia programme at 4.00pm, and this will be followed by a special Gospel music session of exclusive Elvis songs hosted by John Grech at 6.00pm.

Throughout all shows, listeners can either call the studios on 21 66 77 66 or SMS on 50 613 098. On the hour, every hour, short radio and TV interviews recorded throughout Elvis' career will be aired and this will mark the countdown of the marathon. All listeners participating during the marathon can win various on-air prizes each hour.

The station's premises will be also open to the public to meet presenters during the marathon and to give their donations to support the station's programming. Those listening to the marathon on 98 FM can forward their SMS contributions on 50617518 (Lm 1) or 50618848 (Lm 3).
